Thinking
Yea, my daughter called complaining about her heat bill lol, up twice as much from last year. Cold year for sure.
Took the truck up town earlier, GF requested an ice run, anyway, on the way back I though something fell off the front end and I ran it over lol.
Screw it, I kept driving, still going straight enough. As it turns out, my tail gate dropped down, no biggy, front end is fine. Strange ehh..

No problem here guys. It was down in the water beyond Kodiak, but the damn thing still rattled everything in my house. the dog freaked, but I was here for the 64 quake, so I don't get rattled too much with this one. I kept waiting for the big shake, and the final shake was the biggest of them. It was just really long running, then the bang at the end.
Nothing to worry about with this one. But thanks for the thoughts guys

We get tons of quakes each year, but most aren't felt. The bang at the end is usual in our quakes. It's like the 2 plates are sliding, causing the shake, then the bang when they set.
The one in 64 lasted close to 5 straight minutes. Everything was moving one way or the other. That one was a much stronger (more than 100 times) over what happened last night.
Here is a couple pictures from 64 when the city shook and the streets fell 12 feet or more.

Do you guys have opinions on helicoil vs timesert? I just get nauseous at the thought of paying that much for a timesert vs the helicoil. I need to fix the threads in my timing cover for my fuel pump on the 74
Any fab shops around or schools. Find someone that can fill it and re-tap it for yuh. Probably the cheapest route other than heli-coil. Timesert is pricey and chances are you won't use it again. Heli-coil is cheap, I haven't tried it for what your doing though. I've attempted to fix small engine plug threads with a Heli-coil fix, it doesn't hold.
For the timing cover, a heli-coil is fine. It's not under the pressure of say, a spark plug...
I used a heli-coil in the block of a 302 for the timing chain cover bolt. It held for another 10 years that I know of, before it was sold off.
