Looks like I've possibly got my 1st problem starting on the truck...
Went out to it today for the 1st time in 3 days and when I went to start it, it just turned over with the Theft light flashing
Took the key out, locked & unlocked it a couple of times on the remote and then tried again and it started no problem
Only thing I did notice was with the ignition on (but not running) the battery needle looked a bit lower than normal
Took it for a decent(ish) run and it seems to be starting ok now
I did a search for theft light flashing and come face to face with 12 pages of results, so... is there something I should start looking at replacing before it starts doing it again and I get stuck somewhere?
Thanks
Adrian.
I would also check to make sure your terminals are clean and tight. These trucks hate any kind of corrosion in the terminals.
Yea, it's cold, temps read 0 last night, before I called it a night anyway. Not sure how much colder it got. Suppose to be like this for awhile. I'm pexxing in a new line and thawing the regulator as I type. One good thing out here, -heated garage and I have most my tools here now. The reg might be shot, not sure yet.
How did that toilet freeze ? Draft underneath ??
Im thinking the line in the attic is unprotected and then runs in an exterior wall. That and the downstairs guest bathroom freezes at times too. Its an exterior wall into the garage with exposed pipes. Insulated those last year and havent had an issue. I was up in the attic above the garage earlier this month putting in a new breaker and outlet on the side of the house for Christmas lights... noticed some of those pipes ran into the attic and not the wall like I thought. Will need to crawl up there again and insulate that section of piping
Welps.... I went and fondled all I could find over at HD. Settled on this one by Klein.
Feels pretty solid....
I haven't seen that one yet Shane...huh! A Klein made for pass thru. Didn't know it existed. I know I mentioned it, but yea, I purchased the Klein I have 4 or 5 years ago. What I didn't mention is that it isn't pass thru. Let me know how it works.
Huh, yea I never thought to look for a newer Klein. Surprised I didn't come across it.
BTW, -I purchased the new stuff to replace 2 15 year Belkin lines I've put together to run from the house to the trailer. Then re-wire the trailer. They are still laying out there in the snow lol. 150' of old Cat 5 Belkin line still kickin lol. I haven't got around to it yet because they still work so I haven't made the time yet.
I lost a few components when she froze last night (5* in the trailer this morning when I got there). Attempted to use the electric fire place to help heat this thing up today and right away it began flashing and wouldn't turn off. I played with it a bit then smelled something burning, -wiring. I had to hit the breaker real quick.
I have 2 TV's out there, a 55" and a 40" both smarts. The 55" has a Samsung sound system and that went under. TV's themselves are fine.
The water is still frozen. Ordered a back up regulator. Also found out the valves on the propane tanks are froze. So I have 80 lbs of propane I can't use yet, they're thawing out in the garage. Man those tanks are heavy to cart around lol.
The woman wants me to give up on the thing, it's taking up too much of my time. I almost did, in fact, I debated over coffee and donuts for 2 hours this morning before lifting a finger. Watched some TV in the house, I just watched what was on, Supergirl lol. By the third episode, couldn't stand it and started working on it. It's coming around, but yea, it's getting old.
Oh crap.... that sucks Brew. How old is this trailer you bought? Do you have some type of insurance that could cover any of your loss? I have a Samsung UN55ES6500FXZA. Actually just thought that the main board puked in it, but I unplugged it for 10 minutes, and HDMI 1 and 2 returned. Kind of odd - I've had this TV for about 2.5 years, and it's never done that before.
I just ordered a 500 foot box of CAT5E. I didn't realize the stuff I just put in is only CAT5. Probably swap it out before I put up sheetrock downstairs. I realize 100mbps is pretty dang quick, but I'd like the added speed of enhanced CAT5. I also ordered an 8 port Gigabit Cisco switch for the basement. Really not a bad price at 37 bones for a really good switch (unmanaged too).
It's 4 months old, yea it's fully insured. Nothing bad enough for insurance yet. I had it custom built, but they would only gaurentee it to 15*. So I'm pushing it. I insulated even more, but none of that's any good when the furnace goes down. I'm learning, - I need to have a back-up regulator on hand and to store my propane inside...lesson learned. It's -5* now, furnace is on and off on and off etc... Water is taking it's time to thaw, but it is slowly.
I use a switch like that from Netgear, 5 or 5E is all I'll ever need. I've never experienced a problem yet, pretty sure I'm 100% 5e. I purchased 250' of direct burial for the trailer, supposedly the best you can buy in 5E.
Speaking of freezing pipes, etc. - where I moved to generally is about 10 degrees cooler than SLC is. One thing I noticed on the new house is, my master bathroom has a wall exposed to the exterior, and they ran the supply line through the floor instead of the wall. I'd never seen that before, and I believe that this was done to keep it from freezing. The other bathroom has the supply come from the wall, which is not exposed to the exterior.
