So, you wouldn't recommend the Klein's? I can still negate the purchase right now, LOL. Back when I first used the pass through's, there were no crimpers (at least that I know of) that also cut the end. I just used some side cutters, and that worked out well. This will be my first time using them in a good 10-12 years.... last 2 times I've bought RJ45's, I couldn't find the pass through's.

I really want to find a REALLY good set of crimpers. The set I have now are made by Ideal, and boy do they suck. For some reason, it really struggles getting the middle 4 crimped.

Do you have a set you'd recommend?

I've been thumbing through the reviews, and it looks like there are some people saying they received Klein knock-offs through Amazon. I ordered mine through Home Depot, but maybe I'd better go look and see what they have in the store. Maybe I'd better go to Lowes and look at the Greenlee's too.

Hopefully not too much damage Jbrew...

Looks like I've possibly got my 1st problem starting on the truck...

Went out to it today for the 1st time in 3 days and when I went to start it, it just turned over with the Theft light flashing

Took the key out, locked & unlocked it a couple of times on the remote and then tried again and it started no problem

Only thing I did notice was with the ignition on (but not running) the battery needle looked a bit lower than normal

Took it for a decent(ish) run and it seems to be starting ok now

I did a search for theft light flashing and come face to face with 12 pages of results, so... is there something I should start looking at replacing before it starts doing it again and I get stuck somewhere?

Thanks

Adrian.

I thought you've been using them already. I did some research after my experience, - I wanted a good set to begin with, this was maybe be 5 or 6 years, -figured can't go wrong with Klein right. Well they worked well at first but it's short lived. BUT, that's not just a Klein problem. A few months back I researched again for an easier way to make ethernet terminations and it's like no one makes a really great ethernet tool yet. ...couldn't believe it, after all this time lol.

Anyway, after much You tube and reading I decided to try this one, -

Amazon Amazon

It had the best reviews. Purchased it 2 months back but haven't used it yet which is why I asked you how those pass throughs are working. I bought those as well.

With the pass throughs, I've read many times to purchase these as well, -

Amazon Amazon

I use these for everything so I got the package deal lol.

But no, I was asking for your experience, wasn't downing Klien in particular. No one makes a good tool for this, one that lasts anyway is what I've determined. I more less purchased new stuff recently, haven't used it yet. That crimper and pass throughs you posted.

I recall reading that as well, I got the real deal from HD in store.

Sounds like the battery IMO. These trucks flip out with a low battery.

The furnace has been running for what 2 hours now, it's up to 53*. Propane doen't like the cold, the burn or BTU's are way down in these temps. I guess the only way to counter that is housing your propane tanks and keeping them heated. Crap man, I have to heat my propane too??? Guess it's not a problem unless they're ambient in this weather. So I need to house the tanks with a heat lamp or something lol.

Well, I got an ugly comforter for Christmas, maybe I'll wrap my tanks with it.

Cheers, I did wonder if it might be something like that,

Fingers crossed the weather is better tomorrow and I'll pop out to see what I can match it with here in the UK

Think I will stop at HD on the way home tonight or tomorrow.... depending what time I get off work. I know the Commerical Electric stuff I've got from HD sucks, so I won't be buying that brand of crimp tool.

If I don't like what I see, I'll probably take the plunge on the Platinum Tools crimper. You're the 2nd person that has told me about them.

And yeah.... Klein has gone downhill. I wasn't thoroughly impressed with my amp clamp, so I just bought a Fluke. The Klein is still an OK meter, but Fluke is what I should have purchased from the get-go.

As far as your propane furnace not doing well in extreme temps is concerned, is that a characteristic of propane? I've noticed the propane grill doesn't do all that hot in (low) extreme temps..... but didn't think much about it.
