When I went looking for headlights I found that the change was a midyear change sometime in 96. Mine was built in 97 so I didn't need to care about the date and have the two piece headlights.
As cheap as new headlights were from Rock Auto, I didn't bother cleaning the originals when I could get clear style so cheap (at the time)

Mine is a 6/96 truck. I think they changed them in 7/96, so I'm pretty lucky.

My truck has a couple of other anomalies too.

There was a burning smell coming into the cab in bursts off/on ....it was an oil/electrical like burning smell almost like something was literally burning with heat.

My coils were changed several years ago with currently (roughly) 15 000 miles max on them....all Motorcraft.

Maybe a clogged fuel filter ?? vehicle was parked for several months with brief start ups.
It's being driven fairly frequently for 5 weeks now.
Fuel filter was changed last summer. Barely 2000 miles on it.

One thing that comes to mind is during the time it was put in storage there was Lucas fuel stabilizer mixed into the fuel. During the first few weeks of running the car there was a mild burn smell coming into cab of truck....the smell gradually faded away until today's incident.
If it was sitting outside, I would crawl under it and make sure rodents didn't get into any wiring.
Sounds like a harness could be melting on the exhaust.

This is sure a great video... it shows how craptacular the Dorman intakes are for the modular motors. Yes, this is a Mustang/Thunderbird/Lincoln application, but I'm sure the trucks are as bad.

Some more Panos that was recently released. Notice the Yngwie style scalloped frets.

Second day of 35+ MPH winds and 45+ MPH gusts, and a 1200-acre wildfire within 10 miles of my house. Lovely.

Whitey: You, in particular, may be interested in this resource: https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov...105.3,38.9,13z

I also use www.windy.com to look at wind direction and speed - https://www.windy.com/-Show---add-mo...,13,i:pressure

(Windy will also show weather, lightning, etc.)

GRF's post made me remember: If anyone wants a couple of used coils to have as spares, PM me. I'll send them for the cost of postage.

I have a black 99 gt extended cab with the 4.6 it's snappy compared to my 04 5.4. my 01 5.4 is a beast but im have issues with the starter staying engaged after the engine starts. Pre 04 5.4 are better than 04 and beyond in my opinion.
