I have both the 400 and just recently got the 700 foot pound DeWalt. Both are great impacts. Now... if I was starting from scratch, I would seriously look at the new Milwaukee 18V stuff. Like Brew said earlier.... the DeWalt does give you more bang for your dollar. I've dropped my 1/4" a couple times, and it comes back for more. My 400 foot pound took a pretty good tumble by my neighbor, and it does have some issues - but still works. The thing I like about DeWalt is, you can buy all the parts to repair them. I'll fix it at some point.

I personally wouldn't buy anything but DeWalt or Milwaukee though for cordless. You might get a decent Ryobi, or maybe a HF impact. But the support is just not as good. As you can see, I'm already in thick with DeWalt. This pic doesn't include my new 1/4", charger, and 2 new batteries.

Seeing these posts made me have a look at what is available here in the UK

What you have paid about $100 for is best part of $400 here in the UK...

I know it's not something that I need right now but hey, new toys... lol

LOL... I definitely don't' "need" it. But I sure will use it.

I'll never forget my first time using a DeWalt 1/4" impact. It was disassembling my Buddy's 5.4 3V. I remember telling him "I guess I'm getting one of these now". At that time, all I had was the 400 foot pound impact.

By the way, I have not set the new impact on "full beans" yet. I've been running it on the 1 and 2 setting. To me, the number 2 setting feels just like my old impact. It took the lug nuts off my daughter's Escape on 2, and those were put on by my old impact. I need to do the water pump on her Escape... it has had an occasional leak since the car accident that I couldn't ever really find. But while it sat all of last week it got much worse, and I found it's leaking from the pump. It's so small that it was hard to locate the drip.

White, that is an awesome setup! Milwaukee and Dewalt are the two I keep going back and forth between. The price difference isn't enough to make me want to chance a ryobi I don't believe.

With my employee purchase plan, I should be buying Dewalt stuff left and right but I can't bring myself to do it "just because." My drill and impact driver are a refurb Makita set I bought years ago that are going strong, and I have a Craftsman multi-tool that came with a 1/4 ratchet (which I think I've used once). I've not found myself wanting/needing portable saws, etc. enough to warrant the purchase, especially because I already have corded ones for most any purpose. A battery-powered impact would be nice, but I have the air tools.

I have a corded DA sander, and a corded grinder. Oh... my sheetrock screw gun is also corded. That's all DeWalt.

I do have a corded circular saw my FIL and MIL gave me years ago that is a Ryobi.

I thought this was pretty hilarious....

Well crap. My son has Covid, so we are now on a home quarantine. He works around people who are always unmasked, etc. I'm all vaxxed up, with the booster even, so I should be okay. He, on the other hand, is now going to be getting his shots. Hard headed kids........yep.

At least the weather outside is frightful, cold for this time of year, so i get to stay in and do some projects. I guess it's time to do some wiring for my console so the power ports are usable as i go along. I'm sure there is more I can do................always there is. lol

I am scheduled to get my booster on Tuesday. I had it scheduled while my Wife was in the hospital, so I obviously missed that.

Just got back from the cardiologist and all looks well. One of the BP meds is making her cough, so that is getting changed. Also they are upping her dose of daily nitroglycerin. Looks like she'll be on that for 3 months at a minimum.

All in all, he said that 90% of his patients never have a single issue after this regimen of meds. I guess I like those odds.

AK: Hope the boy has minimal effects, and that yiu and the rest of the household stay healthy. I've been waffling on the booster, but will probably just go get it soon.

It was 7° outside last night when I went to bed, and 10° this morning. Chilly here, too. (50° and sunny now, though.)

White: Glad to hear the missus is on the right track.
