Thinking
Hey, Brew this discussion reminds me: How much do you need to turn down the outside diameter of the 3" PVC so it will fit through the fender well hole? I finally found a piece to use for mine in place of the chopped up 45° street elbow I used originally.
The engine compartment hole was cut to 4" to match the Volant intake box. The Volant box doesn't enter the hole, it fits around and compresses against the outside perimeter w/a weather stripping type sealing strip. That hole isn't even 3" factory, if I remember right. I cut it out with a little right angle die grinder. The second hole ( which is the hole you see in pic #3 of my previous post) will fit 3" PVC.
When I went back to the factory intake set-up. I used 3" Sanitary or Irrigation green PVC vs schedule 40 PVC as it much thinner than 40. It's still 3", but with a larger inside diameter than 40. You definitely don't need 40 there.
So it fits the second hole fine. I tapered the piece inside the pipe on both ends.
Your air filters will last twice as long this way...sucking out of that second hole, plenty of air and your not sucking all the dust coming from the vehicle ahead of you.
Plus you'll get 36 mpg on your worst day....that last was a joke lol.

The Amsoil dry element filter was rated at 100,000 miles, - it exceeded that and then some. I still have that filter in a WIX box. It's had a WIX in it since my kid had the truck and it looks clean every year I check it. No embedding yet.
Is that 3", what type of PVC, it fit ???
I might have it backwards, - Schedule 40 is larger on the outside, - Sanitary is smaller. Hell, it's been over a decade for me lol.

Nope.... you're right Brew. I'm the one that's losing it:

What you'll need to do the gotts mod:
- 8mm wrench / socket
- Flat-blade screwdriver
- 3" PVC pipe (about 4-5 inches in length)
- 3" rubber plumbing coupling with clamps
