Beautiful evening here in the mountains.

OTOH (and in the other direction), who the @&#£ needs to light up their house like Fort Knox when you live in the country??? 😡

I really wish we'd been able to buy that property.

It's all up in my head, Bear. I don't know how I remember, but I do. On my 89, I did have them (my work) make me a sign/poster to display on the car that has a lot of the info on it - but not all.

Speaking of weather, UT is hot and windy. This morning the Governor issued this, which I am completely fine with:

I don't know if a couple of you recall the fire that took place in the canyon just a couple miles southeast of me, but that was too close for comfort.

This one was from my front porch....

I remember. That is scary stuff! We have had a lot of wild fire up here in Washington the last few summers. The rain stops at the Cascade Mountain range and anything east is extremely dry. 3 of the last 4 summers the smoke has been so bad in the Seattle area for a few weeks that we are stuck inside and were wearing masks prior to the covid thing to protect ourselves from the smoke. I have several 20" box fans now that I tape a 20x20 furnace filters to and crank on high to help filter the air. Sometimes I wonder how effective this is but then I look at how dark the filter got and I'm glad that stuff isn't in my lungs.

We have major wildfires here every year and during July thru September, we usually have a lot of smoke at times from them. Two years ago, you couldn't walk outside without knowing there was a big fire close. Smoke everywhere. Oh well, we are accustomed to it over the years, and it's only gotten worse as the climate is warming up.

That particular fire was not caused by an actual firework.... rather it was some numb nuts shooting at "empty" propane bottles.

Too bad the dolt was probably too far away from the darned thing when it went off.

Bear, I looked at the extended forecast, and there's no rain mentioned until 6 and 7 July. I'll send you some of this, if you send me some of that! (Insert handshake smiley here.)

It's currently 77° with 12% humidity, and my wind meter is reading from 10 to 18 MPH with a few gusts over 25 MPH. I can't believe we haven't been issued a fire ban yet.

No kidding! Who thinks propping propane bottles against a dead tree and shooting at them is a wise idea? Seriously gotta have some wires crossed upstairs.

Yeah, I'm glad I was never that dumb !

(quickly scans memory of all the stupid, dangerous stuff I did as a teen)
I would never help make an explosive from store bought fireworks and drop it into a lake to see what fish were in it. And I certainly wouldn't do it just to prove to someone that there were fish in the lake.
Me and my friends would never start a fireworks war in the trailer park. Nor a bb gun war in the junkyard that was nearby.
I would never be in a group that stole a buoy and paddled it up a creek and mess with it for a couple weeks before putting it back.
I would never pay a homeless dude to get us a gallon of Bacardi 151 when I wasn't like 15 .
I would never set tannerite in front of a girl I liked house and set it off. And I would never have a copy of the Jolly Roger Cookbook to know how to make it before it was commercial. (that was a great book).
I would never steal the gas out of my dad's boat because I was broke and wanted to go out. I never learned that two stroke gas makes engine smoke.

You know, I'm surprised I made it to graduate high school. I never did catch the woods on fire though. Probably because it is usually like living in a jungle around here.

LOL... I've done some stupid stuff too. But in the corner of my mind, it knows that shooting propane tanks is stupid, especially under tree.

Got my dash all back together tonight.... went to the car show and didn't even stop. Way too big of a fustercluck for me. It's at an old folks home. They were doing a fundraiser with a bunch of crafts and food being sold. And there was also a stage with a band playing. Look at this parking lot, and you do the math. I don't trust my car being safe in this mess.
