Thinking
2100 - WOW! Look at that thing, totally demolished...
Yea, very lucky! Sounds like there was nothing he could do, didn't have a choice in the matter. Those little drop offs (ledges) - off the asphalt can be nasty for sure...specially w/trailer in tow. Glad your cuz made it through that one....could of been much much worse. The truck saved him.
The two crash sensors are behind the front bumper, - fastened to the core or radiator support. One crash box per side, about 16" in from the edges....that's it for bags AFAIK. Those are the only two sensors I've ever noticed anyway.
So your back down to two again, the Highboy and the new one. I like that combination. The Highboy years are definitely my favorite era of these trucks. The 78/79 and 78.5 trucks brings back to the good old days, - high school days and good times lol. - Cool restore project for sure.
___________
My brother and I gave the 98 a walk around last Friday at the kids place. It's rusting terrible fast, - needs to be parked out of site, it's an eye-sore lol. The Tires (Cooper E series) and Fox shocks still look new though...they stand out a little lol. The bed and cab have rusted through now. It's too bad because that truck has been brought back to mechanically sound during the last few years, - except for the cold start knock. But it's had that for quite awhile and just won't die. Connected the battery and it fired right up when I turned the key, no cranking there, - turn and fire.
BTW- , your Highboy restore progress has always been a cool read....if that's what mean by not caring. I'm not sure if caring is the right word here, - it's more like Envy on this end.

Guy asks for pinouts, I give them to him, and he's mad. Typical internets warrior.

If your still interested in helping the guy, there's only one for sure way he's going make that work now. Since he already has he 4R100 mounted, he might as well incorporate a separate controller to run that trans. Last I checked, - Bauman still has a controller for the conversion.
That was the way to do it much before that Ibd article was written/posted. It use to be a big thing a long time ago, it faded away, like over a decade ago. PCM manipulation/swap out is a no-go, - not worth the time and headache. Baumen came up with a controller to get it accomplished. It faded away because even with the correct controller, it's still a little work to get it there.
Send him here if you still want help, -

He's quite rude and unappreciative, - so yea, - if your still willing lol.
LOL. Yea, that has always bugged the shiii out of me. It probably shouldn't, - but it does unfortunately. They don't want to listen and chose suffering vs doing so. You can't help people with that frame of mind....it gets old real quick. Deleting the posts are, in a way, washing my hands of it I guess. - like you never happened lol.
Had an FX4 show up at our local pull-a-part today. Pulled both skid plates off her. In brand new shape too. Sometimes you know just by looking at a truck that it was taken care of, and this one sure was. Good for me. They’re gonna get a coat of paint(maybe bedliner) and under the truck they go!
He PM'ed me , I haven't got back yet. I doubt I will.

Oh, and my old 97 also got a walk around from me on Saturday. Passenger fender is pretty much all the way through on the bottom now, (maybe the antenna leaks?). The bed is rotted in all 4 corners. The thing runs like a champ... not so sure it's worth putting time into now though. Probably just drive it until it breaks.
I've tapped out of that one, LOL. Dude hops in a 7 year old thread and gets demanding, but also states "this is the only information I can find anywhere".... thanks, but no thanks. That's recognizing you're grasping at straws, but not giving one solid turd about burning bridges.
I completely understand!

You need drivers, calibration and the correct firmware update due to the many changes the 4R100 had through the years. Electronics changed every year or at least every other year for that trans. There's quite a bit to it. You have to delete the 4r70 program and run and run a separate controller. His troubles are just beginning. Yea, he's happy.....for now anyway lol.
He probably did search and came up nothing. I attempted it just moments ago and found nothing on it. Also went to the site where it was figured out long ago and came up with absolutely nothing. That info is gone now, too old I guess. The site must have been deleted the old stuff. Ahhh well, moving on...lol
