A Roku TV was the next option. You can get a decent one (for the money) TCL 6 series for a little over 6 at Walmart.

AK, are you using the paid version of Plex? I paid the one time lifetime fee, and I use it to stream my movies off of my NAS. It's great to go on vacation and be able to stream my stuff. It works on my phone, and the web version works really well too.

Well the Roku fixed it, very pleased. I have new favorite remote in the house now as well. 
Apparently both smart 2016 Samsung and Vizio are too outdated for streaming on their own.
No support from the manufacturers didn't help.

If you go to Walmart or Best Buy, etc, check out a Roku TV. Look at the home page, look at the app list, and you can see what they offer to download, and whatever else you find, and have an app, you can add it easily. It's the same on the Roku box or stick. Best damn thing I've bought to watch NO MORE CABLE.
I also added a moveable electric outdoor antenna (32 on amazon) and I get all the local channels free. I guess I save about 120 a month on TV now. I did have to go to Unlimited internet, but for 100 a month, I have everything I need and then some.
