BMW Temperature sending unit. These are ideal due to the fact they have a dual temp setting, giving you the ability to activate both speeds of the relay with a single sensor. The sensor is an M14 X 1.5mm thread. I made an adapter to fit it into my thermostat housing.
Actually, for our trucks, the T-Bird fan has a better fitting shroud. This is copied and pasted, but it's all my own words that I have in a Word Doc.
I also use a continuous duty relay, rated at 80 amps. I have seen some guys use a starter relay, but they are not rated for continuous duty, and will eventually die on you. These are actually in the same ballpark for price as a starter relay anyway, so... this is how I do it.
alright I follow you, what years and models BMW can I pull that temp sensor unit? And the T-bird? With all junkyard parts this may be feasible. Especially because I think my fan clutch is on the way out.
I don't recommend pulling the sensor used. There's no way to tell which of the two temperature ratings you are getting. AK and I just looked the other night, and they were about 20 dollars on Rock Auto (Beck/Arnley). They do have another brand, UroParts, that is usually about 15 dollars - but they are currently out of stock.
As far as the fan is concerned, the T-Bird/Cougar with a 4.6 is what you want.... roughly 94-97, IIRC.

gotcha, will definitely keep that in mind for any JY runs I may do. I’m not really needing a new project as I haven’t finished the last one. But OWHALE.
Well he finally came down on his price today from 3600 to 2500 so I am going to check it out today. Missing some lower GT panels, but not bad overall actually. The interior is clean but too many add on speaker panels in the back that need removed. 15 freakin speakers. 180k on the clock, so I'm sure that 5.0 is about exhausted. Luckily I have an 92 5.0 motor. Typical sun roof leak. LOL We will see. Now where will I park this if I get it? Tis a puzzlement, but doable.

There is a mid 80s Notchback available also right now. Guy is cleaning out his yard. Those are not my favorite body. Sure they weigh right for drag racing, but those days are behind me. I'd rather have a nice early 90's hatchback.
