You just described the systems used by NASCAR for the cars there on pit road.

Right on AK. They are common for performance engines. I brought it up should anyone look at pre-lube devices and come up on pre-oilers. I once read about this engine pre-oil and pre-heat started with airplane engines. Oil can't be compressed but it can be expanded with heat. The old airplane engines leaked oil like a sieve until they got to temperature and it was a safety problem. Pre-heated and pressurized greatly reduced the safety issues. Automotive engine builders caught on to the benefits for performance engines. Now they bring everything to temperature before starting because of the effects on pressure.

The governor just announced 3919 new COVID cases today. And we still have *******s going around without masks on. I have literally been wearing masks in public since March 13th.

It's just crazy isn't it? Saw on the news last night that new cases in the US topped 120,000. A new record with new records in like 3 of the last 5 days. There are still people spouting the hoax nonsense. Wow!

It is crazy. I'd like to get back to normal at some point, but only when it is safe!

Question for all you thinkers out there. If I swapped my cluster to one with a tach, without reprogramming it via dealership. And I remote started my truck, using the PATS bypass, would the cluster work?

My brain tells me no. But I don't know why yet. As I recall, it is still routed though the cluster, and they must be paired with the PCM.

I am sure AK will be able to answer this better than me though.

Do you mean PATS bypass or RAP bypass? I've heard of PATS removal but not bypass.

Why not just pull the cluster back out and swap the control unit over to the new cluster. You should have no problems after doing that. Its easy to swap It will also make your mileage correct

Otherwise, I think it won't function correctly or even work. No signal to signal read.

Wait, that won't work. This cluster will have to be programmed to the truck. Non-tach units use another controller and won't swap tot he tach ones. Damn. I just pulled up a couple of other old threads on this and this is the result.
