Think I'll get them to throw a battery charger on it, head over there tomorrow instead. That way I can test out the alt real quick as soon as I get there.

Ohio, how is your ALT rebuild holding up ? Think I might need everything replaced inside this time, if it went.

A-OK, Brew. I don't notice any difference better or worse with the high-current stator, though. (I guess that's a good thing?)

I'll take this opportunity (since Brew made me think of it) to say I upgraded from the puny solar battery charger I'd picked up from HFT for (IIRC) $6.99 with coupon to a 10-watt unit from Amazon, and haven't had a dead battery since. With the aftermarket alarm set and the phone charger plugged in (but not charging anything), the parasitic draw was sufficient to kill the battery within two weeks.

The last time that I drove The Eight Nine was probably Memorial weekend. I got in it on Saturday to wash it and take it for a shimmy around the town. Welp... my damn Viper drained the friggin battery. That thing must have a pretty decent draw. I can let my F150 sit for 3 months and it will still start. Sooo... The Eight Nine is on the battery maintainer again, LOL. I'll hafta look at that Amazon unit. Problem is, it hardly ever sees the sun. I wonder if I would make up a patch cable for my maintainer that fed back through the cigarette lighter??? Hmmmm...

That's exactly what I do with the 95. Mounted a battery tender on the ceiling, extended the wire, and running down to the cigarette lighter. I have a hook on a ceiling, coil up the wire, and hang it up there when it's not connected to the car.

BMW Temperature sending unit. These are ideal due to the fact they have a dual temp setting, giving you the ability to activate both speeds of the relay with a single sensor. The sensor is an M14 X 1.5mm thread. I made an adapter to fit it into my thermostat housing.

Actually, for our trucks, the T-Bird fan has a better fitting shroud. This is copied and pasted, but it's all my own words that I have in a Word Doc.

Here is what I've found to be the most ideal to use in conjunction with your thermostat:

For a 180 Thermostat, use BMW part# 61318361787
For a 194 Thermostat, use BMW part# 61311378073

To build the harness, you'll need:

#61131378412 - BMW 90 degree angle connector (Wire Housing - Black Plastic)
#61130007445 - BMW 90 degree angle green connector wires (Need 2)
#61130007446 - BMW 90 degree angle green/black connector wire (Need 1)
I also use a continuous duty relay, rated at 80 amps. I have seen some guys use a starter relay, but they are not rated for continuous duty, and will eventually die on you. These are actually in the same ballpark for price as a starter relay anyway, so... this is how I do it.

Amazon Amazon

I just ordered another battery tender for Frankie. I think I'm going to hang on to Frankie until the spring at least. So it's going to get parked in the back driveway with a car cover. Probably need to put something over the motor too... that damn ram air hood won't be good for keeping water out.

I think I may have mentioned that the trans makes a strange noise.... well, my Buddy told me on Thursday "pull it out, and I'll build it for you for nothing". So, I guess I better get to that pretty soon, lol.
