Funny, I started out right away letting him pee in the mowed "yard" (it's mountain grass, and other wild stuff, so there's really nothing to harm), but #2 was only in the tall grass. After only a week, he waits 'til we're in the tall stuff to do that. There's enough deer, elk, fox, and bear scat out there that I'm not even worried about cleanup. .

We had two for the last 5 years, a German Shepard and a Akita Weimaraner mix (Wakita). Big dogs, we just got rid of the Shepard, it was a handful and hate to say it, -dumber than a box of rocks. It went to a good home though which took a long time to find. We'll never go with a pure bred again. Always felt fortunate with dogs until that one....sheesh. We are on a little over an acre, had to eventually invested in invisible fencing which worked very well. Anyway major stress relief downsizing to just the Akita. Still have to clean up the dinosaur piles in the yard once a week or before I mow, but that seems like nothing now lol.

We just came back in from a other successful "potty break" and saw this. I'm sorry to hear about the Shepherd, Brew, but glad you made sure they went to a good home.

I may have to re-think the "no cleanup" angle. I kinda forgot about the piles increasing in size along with the dog. We have about five un-mowed acres, but not all that will be fenced. No cogitation on that now, though. Time for some more shut-eye.

Honda($) and Preditor make several. Neat thing is that w 2, you can sync them to have 4000w. Dig for the dB spec. Most seem to be rated at 23 ft w 60 down to 50dB. Each 3dB is a doubling or halving of sound level. Then, make the doghouse to reflect noise away, or up if sides are 45° like around an airport.
Thanks BillSF9c.
I am going to use the generator I have and build a box for it.
I don't plan to go back up there till it warms up around here (at least nights not so cold), so I have another month to prepare.
I plan to buy a LiFePo battery and charge it up during the day. The generator should be able to charge the battery in a few hours and then it would be quite in the evening and through the night.
I'm only using the power for a small fridge and some LED lights.
Will probably get the battery from a company vendor.

Good morning thinkers!- sounds like Ohio had a great weekend with new fuzzy child!- Congrats man! Hes beautiful!!
Labs are great dogs, several of my co-workers have them, they say to really train hard the first two years- ( they like to chew and dig). But the reward is a companion for life! Keep the pics coming!
AK, im going to look into an occ- ( im a bit worried about it causing a CEL, though)- but most of my driving is short trip, so, in my mind it possibly could put out more contaminates ( condensates more than anything) than if i drove it on long trips.
You fellers have a safe day at your salt mine, ill catch ya later!!
