A question for you computer guys about how a network works. If a business office has a network with 10 PC's on it and you needed to access a file on one of those computers do you need to know where that file exists or do you just need to query the network for the file by its name and the network will find it for you regardless of which computer it's on? I hope that makes sense.

That’s a strange question

Why?

Consider the network on your truck. A query goes to every node and only the node queried will respond. It doesn't work point to point. How does an office computer network work? I'm not a computer person so I'm just wondering.

Watch this. This video is part of the Cisco Certification, and will explain it much better than I will. Short answer though, is no the network does not keep track of file location. That is why you map drives, etc. I don't believe this is an apples to apples comparison that you are hoping for.

Thank you White. What brought this up for me was reading about how the networks differ but what was said was all Greek to me. The book was getting in to why some networks terminate at an empty cable or a resister and the difference that makes. This was just one of many particulars written about. I was just curious because the more I learn the more I understand just how un-linear our vehicle CAN's are. That seemed to be very dissimilar from a business network but wasn't sure.

I made it through the night with no fever. Then at about 2pm today, it nailed me again. I called the University of Utah to check on my results, but they are way behind. On Sunday there were 9000 tests administered.

This has been very similar to the flu, if it is COVID. This might sound really stupid of me to say, but if it is COVID, it will be a relief in a way just to get it over with.

I hope it's only the flu. I know our idiot in chief and his expert radiologist pretending to be an immunologist like to talk about "herd mentality" or whatever but all the real experts say there is no evidence that covid is a one and done virus. In fact there has been no evidence that covid isn't like the virus typhoid where the vaccine has to be retaken every 2 years to be effective. So, I hope your wrong until we at least know.
