Thinking
LOL, yea, I usually don't wait either. I don't think nobody does anymore. The cover is fully torqued as well...I think your suppose to wait on that too lol.
Truth is, I was getting tired and had a somewhat legit excuse to get out there. I took it lol.
I just came across this and thought it was interesting. These are some Wisconsin legal requirements:
To become a barber in Wisconsin requires 1,000 hours of training.
To become a cosmetologist requires 1,550 hours of training in not less than 10 months.
To become a cop requires 520 hours of training.
To become a barber in Wisconsin requires 1,000 hours of training.
To become a cosmetologist requires 1,550 hours of training in not less than 10 months.
To become a cop requires 520 hours of training.

This made me look up what they are in my state.
If I were CNN I would write it up as:
To become a barber in Virginia requires 1,500 hours of training.
To become a cosmetologist requires 1,500 hours of training.
To become a cop requires 100 hours of training.
But at least here that would not be honest.
Honestly:
To get a barber license requires 1,500 hours of training and to pass an exam. You can pass a 40 hour class and then do all the things a barber does in a shop with a licensed barber. So 40 hours and you can make $ cutting hair.
To get a cosmetologist license requires 1,500 hours of training and to pass an exam. You can pass a 40 hour class and then do all the things a cosmetologist does in a shop with a licensed cosmo. So 40 hours and you can make $ cutting and dying hair.
To become a cop though:
Not have any felony conviction
Be at least 21 years of age
within 12 months one must:
Pass a psychological exam
Complete a certified law enforcement academy training with at least 100 hours of classroom and 140 hours of practical training (240 hours total)
Then pass the exam.
Then 100 field hours to include each General Law Enforcement, Court Systems, Records and Documentation, Juvenile Procedures, Handling of Mental Cases, Booking Procedures, Miscellaneous. State site does not indicate if these hours can be concurrent, like if one hour in a juvenile court counts toward the requirements of Juvenile Procedures and Court Systems. I think it should.
Then pass another exam.
So, up to 940 total hours, two exams, one psyc test, and pass a physical fitness test to be a certified cop. Sounds fairly reasonable to me. And you must re certify every one in a while. I didn't find how long the certificate is good for and must get back to work now.

noobie, Wisconsin has the same background investigations and tests for all three except for police it's done internally and for state licenses it's done by the state. Wisconsin said nothing about being able to work without a license. You raise a good point though, every state is different. Some have no requirements. People right off the street can be hired. I'm in Michigan and I don't even know what the requirements are here. BTW, where are you at in VA? I have a lot of family around Norfolk\Va. Beach and was once stationed at Little Creek.
