This one is supposed to be steel. It looks steel, but it's not the same quality as the stock gear by any means. China steel vs. US steel?

The older and less complicated were simple compared to the latter.

Otherwise I hit google for the fix before chucking it. Chucking and replacing is a little bit of work as well....PITA. lol

I did a lot of travelling so a lot of renting and dealt with this 3 or 4 times with electric hot water heaters. Always turned out to be the a bad heating element or one of the thermostats was bad.

Yes they were. This damn thing won't hit the spin cycle. So many things it could be. I think it might be the transmission though. This one has no auger (or whatever that thing in the middle of the tub is called), so I have no experience with it. From the looks of the prices on parts, it only takes a couple guesses with the parts cannon before you're kicking yourself for not just buying a brand new washer.

Sounds like the timer.

Might wanna check with the wife. Make sure she didn't break it on purpose....since you made her rip up the bathroom floor recently...

It's all digital. So, from what I gather, you have to replace the entire control board.

I'll go home and **** with it for an hour or so, and if I don't have anything glaring at me that it's bad, I'll go over to Home Depot and bring one back with me. I hope they make a non-digital unit that I know how to work on.

FWIW, mine is a WTW5000DW1 (Whirlypooly).

Yea, we have digital now, just haven't broke yet. Use to be you could find the problem with a mm pretty easy. I had a set of Kenmores for years when I was younger. Hell, I even welded up the drum to keep the washer going once. That was just for fun, to see if I could do it sort of thing. Yea, I quit challenging myself like that long ago....it was sort of ate up anyway lol.
