My transmission Buddy called me all excited yesterday because he thought my 88 is an auto. He wanted to build me a trans to play with in it. Still might do it if this T5 is junk. He says he's already got everything laying around, and he'll basically do it for nothing.... so I'll just need a controller (I want a 4R70W). Just some random thoughts that go on in my brain, LOL.
I've got one from a 96 Mustang GT you can have if you can get it to you.

I did a cam spec comparo between the XE274HR that's in the 351, and the E303 going in the 302.

EDIT: Adding the stock HO cam:
Remember what Shelby said. It all happens at 7000 rpm.

SBF's and 7000 rpm's, LOL. Not something that's very common.

Ah, I forgot about that. Yep. You'll probably like the 3.27 ratio better.

I'd love to know what's really at the crank, but I'll just have to use the 15% guestimate, which nets about 475 HP.

There's likely a bit more to be had from the current setup. The tuner guessed we could get to 420-425, but I had them stop at 400 to stay safe(r). Dropping the pulley size (or moving to a bigger crank pulley) and adding meth would probably get me to 475 without blnking an eye, but I like my block in one piece, plus then the T5, rear end, axles... everything else comes into play. Faster is fun until you start breaking thing$.

I didn't realize you still had a T5. How well is that holding up to 400hp? A Buddy of mine has a vert that dyno'd at 386 rwhp, and he trashed his T5. He just went turbo, and switched to a Tremec TKO 3550.

The 89 has a pretty fresh T5 in it. Not many miles at all on it.

It's been fine so far. I don't beat on it too hard (don't power shift, etc.) and the King Cobra clutch should really be the "fuse."

LOL, Just saw the movie again because it's on HBO now so I was reminded off that bit of wisdom from him.

Good to know. I currently have a King Cobra, and I am fixing on putting a new one in it too with the 351.

The guy that had the 88 told me he had just put a clutch in it before he parked it, but there's just too much oil on it for me to think it was "right before". I am convinced that it was leaking and burning oil because of this screen under the PCV being plugged:

That does not look good. Even if it's fine it doesn't look good

It's not good... I'm going to soak it in diesel tonight and see how it comes out. I have a new one somewhere that I got for the 351, but diesel ought to do the trick here, LOL.
