I've had success with aerosol smoke and unlike the machines they don't set of detectors if you get one rated for that.

 

I bought a Smoke pro unit about 15 yrs. ago with the accessory kit.
10yrs. at the shop and 5 yrs. since I retired, never had a problem with it.

 

I realize I'm late to the party but I'm just catching up on Thinking. Back to to the barking spider, what is a window snipe? Maybe that is the most important part of the $21k upgrade package. Probably worth 30-40 HP at least.

 

My buddy has an old Halloween Dinosaur that has ripped in many places, that he's modified the fog machine to use as a smoke machine. My buddy did this about 4 years ago. If I get up to Sutton I'll post pics of the little smoker, lol. It's just a plastic box that uses potassium nitrate as the smoke source You can buy PN on Amazon in about 9# canisters. I haven't bought there yet for him, but someday, most likely. It's getting too hard to buy PN like he used to.
