Well... another eventful morning... I got to work at 5 am because I knew our DNS server was down... and while sitting there fixing it, along comes an aftershock that was a 3.2, and since then I've felt 3 more smaller aftershocks. We've got to be at least 120 total by now. On the plus side, between the coronavirus and the earthquake, there was damn near nobody on the freeway this morning.

The Nova program on PS last night was about the last big one in Japan that took out the Nuke power plant. A good part of the program was explaining how aftershocks happen and what they are about. Fault lines have a stress balance until someplace finally gives and all the stress from that point moves elsewhere along the fault. Now they're out of balance and it becomes a long series of events until all the stress is in balance again. It was pretty much said that there is no way to predict the amount of aftershocks, how long they will go on for or the energy they will release. An inexact predictor is how fast the strength of the aftershocks resides. At 3.2 still you may be experiencing them for a while longer. Be safe.

We are still experiencing aftershocks from our 11/30.2018 7.1 quake. The 1964 big quake we had in Anchorage, was still aftershocks after 3 years the seismographic groups said.

On a brighter note, the McDonalds in Eagle River just reopened after all this time, since the earthquake destroyed their building. Now ton a sadder note, the Mayor closed all in-house eating, drinking, bingo halls, etc. That poor owner can't get a break. Anchorage has gone dark kind of in just the three days I was in Fairbanks. 4 days ago, we had no CV cases, now this am we have 9. Everything is cancelled. Dog races in Fairbanks are off now also.

But, Red performed beautifully on the trip. Damn sand truck broke my new windshield across the bottom though. His mileage is improving a bit. This time he got 15.8 coming back. I forgot to check the going up mpg. I had to run thru snow for the first 60 miles, so I am quite impressed with him this run. I was going up the steepest part of the mountain coming out of Fairbanks and there was snow everywhere and getting deep. The plows were behind me on this side of the hill. I was running about 50 when the *** kept kicking out so I set the SOTF on and had no more problems. He ran great at 50 uphill in 4x4 for the few miles still to go up.. That was the only place I used 4x4 on the trip. After Cantwell it was sunshine.

I got stuck behind 3 road plows running staggered for almost 20 miles. They finally got to a long passing lane, and the group of 11 cars I was in was able to get by. After I finally got by the Subaru that was slowing everyone down. I never saw any of the line after about 4 miles. I was up and gone. lol.

A couple pics from yesterdays drive back. Denali looks pretty, but that damn tree got centered perfectly. LOL

That's funny AK. The dog also has a "what are you doing now" expression which doesn't hurt.
