My parents old place was out in the sticks. I/2 mile up the road was a fenced off abandon gravel pit. Those days were a blast for sure. We got kicked out once in awhile, but that was far and in between.. Yea, good times!

Those days are sadly missed. Ever since the politicians began their "nmaD doG" money run with the ORV stickers it's been all downhill from there. Sleeping Bear is another good example. I honestly don't see any lakeshore altering benefits to the rules in effect today but what's been lost and the amount of people that were once attracted to the dunes and lakeshore is as obvious as an 18 wheeler on a go kart track. I don't know how things are up your way but around here a place like an old and closed quarry or pit is regulated by at least a dozen pages of rules on how to keep people out. Growing up I spent a lot of summers in the UP. Starting around the age of 12 or 13 the locals turned me on to cutting grass or doing whatever to save up for what was then a $25 to $50 used car. We would alter the cars anyway we felt to and then we hit the two tracks, logging roads, abandoned RR tracks and whatever else we thought we could get down. We could easily go 1\4 of the way across the UP without ever driving on a road except to cross them. Our parents seldom knew or found out that when we said we were going to spend the night camping in the woods we might have been 100 miles away. To the kids up there today the stories they hear about what was once done are just stories. It was all more than stories. Most of them can't even ride their bicycles along the roads, helmet or not. It's not the kids choosing to live their lives on an X Box. They're being forced to. I can go on and on ranting on this subject.
About the bike, it doesn't matter if that one was yours or not. That stinky, high revving 2 cycle engine still offers the same fun. My high school girl friend was fond of 2 cycle bike engines and didn't mind who knew it. lol
I started cleaning up the Mustang wheels yesterday, and they were scraped deeper than I originally thought,. I took me some serious sanding and filling and smoothing to get the look back to normal. Here is one I finished. I have 2 others sanded and ready for finishing, but it started to get windy, so I am going to finish them today.
Love? Not sure I can go there but I am partial to a lot of these update or modified styles to the Cragar's. When I was a kid they defined "muscle car" as much or more than any other styling decision. JMO but any reference to that time enhances a car. Even more when subtle and not in your face.
There's nothing in the picture to suggest the amount of work needed and successfully completed. Nice work AK.
