JP, I don't mind you asking at all. Right now she's leaning towards early childhood development.
My first cousin went through Clemson's program and really enjoyed it. She has been a teacher for 6ish years now and couldnt be happier. I hope your grand daughter finds the same happiness.
Its hard to go into early childhood development and NOT want to take a full ride. She would be leaps and bounds ahead of anyone else graduating with her. I would hope she HIGHLY considers the full ride over the school where her friends are going. Its definitely not a decision to take lightly and/or make based off friends. Also if she hasnt ever listened to Dave Ramsey, I would also recommend she listen to his classes. My Dad always had them playing on roadtrips during travel soccer season. It blows my mind how many co workers I know carry balances on multiple credit cards, have cards maxed out and still just go out and buy things they want and "charging it" instead of saving a few paychecks and paying cash. Definitely thankful my dad taught me to be financially responsible!
Sorry for the side tanget, it implies nothing about your granddaughters current situation, just a general suggestion for anyone but especially kids just starting out. You dont have to live 100% according to Dave Ramsey but he does have good points and plans.
Both of my parents are teachers, my mom her whole life and my dad mid way through his working career.

Thank you for your thoughts but I think what she is hoping for is a full scholarship to Clemson too. There's no way she is going to pass up on a scholarship to be with old friends. She applied to 5 or 6 colleges and so far has only heard back from the one.
From the way she talks her interest are more towards research than actual teaching but if she did go in to teaching it would be with pre-school ages. She lived with an aunt for almost 3 years and while living there she taught two twin cousins of hers that start kindergarten next year to read and write. She's convinced every kid can do the same and I think that's where she developed the interest in early childhood. When people congratulate her about it she tells them it wasn't her, it was them. She does recognize she triggered something in them though and that's what she wants to research, learn or find out. Her application essay was about this and I'm guessing here but I think it helped a lot with her scholarship offer. Like I said, proud grandpa here. lol
Fordguy, I will tell her about Ramsey. I'm sure she will be interested. She's a sponge for learning and fortunately unlike her parents she has always been financially responsible. Since 15 she has worked after school and summers and saved her money. She pays for her own car insurance and I think that's the most she's ever spent on anything. She's not happy about it either because of how much it costs.
BTW, tell your parents thank you. When it comes to people being under appreciated in our society teachers top the list IMO.
Bear in mind hardening creates a brittleness which is not desired in a gear through the entire part. Surface hardening slows wear on the pressure surfaces, (where one tooth acts on the next). There is no need for a gear to be heat treated through.

I'm sorry... but I'm lost. What is this in response to?

Ah sorry, read to much into it lol. Hoping for the full ride to Clemson as well makes sense! (heck even if she got the majority of it paid for tho that would still keep it in the running!) That sounds very interesting, sounds like she definitely has a passion for it which will go a long way in whether or not she succeeds in her chosen path! Too many times I saw friends drop out or change majors 3589734985734 times because they found they had no passion for what they were pursuing. I think most of the battle with seniors is helping them find something they have and will have a passion for for the rest of their life AND can make a living wage.
I also think trade schools are under promoted. I very much believe college is NOT for everyone and a lot of people would be better off if they knew the opportunities existed in trades. My cousin is a prime example who dropped out of college and now "enjoys" drawing unemployment half the year from his union. He had a passion for welding and body work and I think if he pursued that he would be a lot better off than where he is now.
If you or your granddaughter have any questions about Dave Ramsey I would be happy to help.
I don't know if you guys remember me telling you about this hand cleaner we have at work called "I.C. Hand Cleaner".... but in the past it has been unavailable to the public. The owner retired, or something... and he sold the formula to Full Bore, and now it is available to the public. I have used a lot of hand cleaners over the years, and this is by far the best product I've ever used. It is non-petroleum based, just gritty enough to pull the toughest greases off your hands, does not dry your skin, and smells pleasant. I personally hate the smell of Fast Orange and think it does a marginal job cleaning your hands... anyway, if you guys are interested, here's their storefront in the link below. If you enter the promo code "FREESHIP" it will take the shipping cost off too. I just ordered two of the 64 ounce tubs.
I went and started red this morning and when I got into him,. the tach was stuck on 2500 rpms, even tho it was only running at 800 rpm or so. I guess I will be swapping the cluster out this week. Like I said in another post, I have 5 clusters, so swapping isnt a bit deal. I need to find one with the correct miles from the pile. I may have to take one apart and swap the odometer over, but that is a piece of cake, if you've done it before. I have, lol
I guess I'm going to the white faced gauges this time with purple LED's. I may change them to blue or red, but purple for the start Luckily these are the RGB LED's with controller, so I get to see how well they work in this swapout. `I won't have to remove the cluster to change the color at least. I've been dying to try these bulbs since September, but now that the cluster is hanging on the rpms, perfect time to experiment.
I also have a good Gator cluster that I might just throw in there if I don't like the white faced set up. Hmmm.

I actually like Fast Orange, it works pretty good for me, although sometimes you really gotta scrub. If this is better tho, Im all for giving it a try. I hate wearing gloves so I use the stuff quite often lol
Also changed the front brake pads today, heard a squeak start soon after replacing the rear pads... was hoping it wasnt the rears squeaking lol, yup fronts had just started to hit the sqeak pad. So new brakes all around now.
