White,

Do you know why or can you explain what it is about Google at the local library here that when doing a search most of the commercial nonsense of trying to sell or get the user to buy something is gone? Is this a google search option available to anyone? If so, how do you get to it or choose it? The librarians didn't know why Google at the library is so different than what we get from the cable company.

I would imagine that makes them G Suite users. You can set the privacy settings on G Suite to keep your accounts private, which would keep Google Ads from being able to generate ads based on search history, etc. G Suite has a lot of tools and features that are not available on regular Google/Gmail accounts, such as G Suite Sync - which makes Outlook and Gmail cooperate with each other, and keep changes in IMAP folders, Google Calendar, etc. run much smoother.

I had no idea of what G Suite is so looked it up and it said for business, institutes and nonprofits. From your description that's got to be the difference. It would be nice to have it for the home. It's not unusual when searching at home to go deep in the search result pages to even start to see what I'm looking for to show up. The punctuation marks that once confined or limited a search don't work anymore. I was looking for an OEM Ford seat cover the other day and maybe 20% of what came up had to do with Ford and less than half of those had to do with OEM.

There are some websites that state, "get G Suite for free." Do you know if they are legit or not? Most sites are about a license agreement.

Thanks White.

Have you tried DuckDuckGo?

Yes. It doesn't seem to be much different. The site says it protects users privacy but nothing more than that. That might effect results from tracked previous searches but it doesn't seem to effect all the commercial "coloring outside the lines" that goes on now. I just tried "new Ford OEM seat covers" on Duck and it's a little better but not that much. I do appreciate that there is a site available that doesn't track searches and maintain an apparent data base of searches.

AFAIK, the only way to get it is to pay for it. I manage 140 accounts with it... it has some great features. Their customer support is out of this world too.... I seriously got an answer for an issue I had with G Suite Sync this morning in under 5 minutes. The question I asked Microsoft about Access 365 3 weeks ago.... still unanswered. I figured it out on my own, and it SHOULD have been a really simple answer for them. All I needed was an update to Office.

3 weeks? Wow. It is Microsoft though. lol 140 accounts? That's a lot of customers.

The local community college has some search engines that are specific like "science and engineering" and "Published Academic Research," but those computers are so busy you have to sign up for a time and students come first. I was told those are licensed search engines too. I guess I'm just going to have to stick with the library for now. Thanks again.

The accounts are Gmail accounts. So, 140 user accounts.

When you are an Admin, you get this app added to your account, and this is where all of the magic happens..... a lot more going on behind the scenes than people realize.

Just wanted to take a second to share.
I was looking at these Dick Cepek Trail Country EXPs and was curious how they are wearing. So I measured and I have 16/32 of the original 18.5/32 at a bit over 18k miles. That means if I wear them down to 3/32 this set will still last about 100k miles.

I may have found a new favorite tire. Lol

That's IF they don't wear quicker as they age lol.

Some D's and E's will do 100,000 easy and still look good.
