That is another reason I like Samsung. My 55 is about the same age as yours, Brew. It just updated 2 or 3 days ago. Samsung is pretty good at providing updates to their older products. - which is another reason I stick with their phones. Mine is also 3D with a 480hz refresh ratio when you are using Clear Motion. It is a UN55ES6500.... I saw the price on the invoice when I won it, and it said $1579 on it.

Samsung and Vizio are pretty close, Samsung stills wins out overall I expect. Seems like every time I've shopped for one I came very close to going with a Samsung, to the point which, that was what I was going purchase just before leaving the house lol. BUT, in store, the Vizio's looked more impressive IMO. Just the image quality, to me anyway. But yea, that depends who's looking at it...and opinions can vary greatly there. Yea, the Vizio sold me up close.

Have you noticed that ? In store, the display models that are suppose to be top notch, don't look all that impressive ? Iduno, hoping I wasn't getting fooled I opted for the Vizio, now more than once. At this point I can say it wasn't bad choice, never regretted it EXCEPT for the updating or loose of support with my older Vizio. I researched that problem pretty good about 6 months back or so. Concluded that the 55" Vizio I have hasn't had an update for a very long time. Thing about that, - it should have, most definitely. I'm thinking they just dropped supporting. Seems like other devices have at least one update every few years. One that you either have to initiate or and now automatically updates after the device is shutdown (the smart set up). But yea, after checking the version number, it was an old one and the end of updates for that specific model. The Sony I threw in the trailer for that cheap 40" is a few years older and it had a few updates to go through. I just have a feeling Vizio just dropped support. Perhaps that 55" wasn't suppose to last this long lol.

How did you win that one, must be a nice one in that price range ?

Yeah Brew, I know what you mean. Walmart is especially bad about giving you a good display. I usually like going to a locally owned store here called RC Willey. They cost about the same, and will handle any of the warranty things that may come up. A guy I work with just had them replace (under warranty) his 65 LG that had a line go dead in the screen.

Every couple weeks both of my Samsungs (I also have a 40 inch) will say "Updating Smart Hub" in the top right corner. It's been nice for them to keep up with the times on it. I do wish they'd add Sling to the apps though..... hell, maybe they have now - been a while since I checked.

EDIT: Oh, and I won that TV six years ago tomorrow. It was a contest that the local TV station was doing for March Madness. My friend sent me a text saying "hey, you just won a TV". I had forgotten I had even entered the contest, LOL. It was pretty cool for sure.

This is what happens when you have constant construction going on I-80.

So trying to clean up the axle shafts.... is there anything I can do to make sure my seal doesn't leak? The pitting has me worried. Other side looks decent but this side is the worst. No way I'm bailing on this axle after the work I've put into it but I also don't want this side to fill up with oil the first run out.

This may be dumb, put can I fill the divets with Jb weld and sand smooth with 1500 grit? Idk just brainstorming

Also couldn't find crocus cloth locally but I have some 1500grit Emory cloth of that's good enough? If not I found what I think I need online (see other attached pic)

You may be able to clean it up well enough with emry cloth and then super-fine sandpaper. I don't think anything you try to "fill in" with will hold up. I seem to remember hearing about a speedy-sleeve (or something like that) that was used to provide a new sealing surface, but can't recall details. One of the others will likely have a better answer. (So I probably should have just shut up and waited.)

use crocus cloth on a roll or a sheet and clean that up. When you put that bearing on, use bearing tack to hold it from getting jiggy with ya. lol

The work looks great 2100. Are you putting new brake lines also?

Whitey, I have all the boards and wiring and speakers from a 48 inch Samsung, top unit, It was perfect but the screen got damaged in the earthquake on Nov 30. It came out of a $1200 unit. If you can use the parts let me know.

You don't think it will leak with the pitting?

I haven't decided on the lines yet, the ones off my current axle look good but haven't inspected them, if I do I suspect I'll have to bend my own lines.

Bearing tack will keep it busy. Your other option may be a Speedi-Sleeve. This looks about like what you are dealing with....
