I just got a call from the service manager, he stated the field engineer for my area confirmed this is a wide spread problem. He stated he is working on a truck now, which involves changing the turbos....He said he would call back in two weeks to schedule my truck but they wanted to see if the turbo fix helped this other truck. This is a mess, turbos, tranny, springs, drive shaft, sensors. I documented everything, its clear nobody has a clue how to fix this problem.

+1 same here, I am going in for an oil change and the 5mph shutter today. We will see what they say.

That's pathetic. This sounds like a shade-tree mechanic's solution to a problem. You have to know what the problem is before you can fix it, and by throwing parts, TSBs, and fixes from every angle shows they just don't know. So much for the fix coming later this spring/summer. If that were true they would already know what the problem is and they would not experiment with fixing it like this.

Anyone around Birmingham have this issue? I want to ride in one that has a severe problem. I sort of feel a vibration or shake around 55mph, but I'm not really sure it's even a problem. It goes away with more or less throttle.

Tech at my dealer has had zero people come in with this issue (I haven't even taken mine in for it, because I can't say for sure it's not just road conditions causing the feeling)

I think, for me anyway, it's just a combination of trying to give as little throttle as possible for that speed, torque converter being just on the edge of in or out, and turbo pressure..

sorry... i'm behind on the topic.
No, there is a lot of confusion as to what people are believeing this is, and a lot of people are posting that they are having this issue it seems when in fact it is something different. This is what I have noticed following every post on this thread.

In the Ecoboost, you can actually hear the turbo cut out/blow off/however you want to describe it, repeatedly. Each time it does so, you can feel the truck lurch front to back. A tire out of balance, to me at least, is more of a side to side sort of feeling, and shakes the whole truck continuously. With this "shudder", the truck is coming out of and back into power, causing the truck to jolt each time it does so.

Its hard to describe in words, but from reading all the other posts it wouldn't surprise me if 25% of the people posting on this thread don't have the actual issue being discussed here.

I had the TSB done earlier this week, but with it being warmer I was not able to replicate the issue at all and my mileage has been way better. We are back to reality with lows in the upper 20's next week, so I am hoping I will be able to do some better testing then and see if it is "fixed".

So, I drive my wife's Escape when possible.

I have a trip to Baltimore coming up next month. I may take the truck, not sure yet. Only going to do that if I cant cram all the gear and family in the Escape.
Sorry to hear how bad you hate this truck. It's way bad when you have a $40,000+ vehicle that you do all in your power not to drive, even at the expence of jamming all your gear and family into a little box just to avoid it.
Sure wish Ford would just find a real fix and do it!

Hope your results are different but don't get your hopes up. I feel is was half a band aid fix.
After reading thru most of these posts on here....I have to agree that I think Ford has a problem with their transmissions in these trucks.
Mine is a 2010 with the 5.4L and I have had it in a couple times for hard shifts and hesitations. Last time they applied the TSB (can't recall specifically which one it was), the truck drove great. Was like a totally new truck for a while...then it started to drive like crap again. Has been for months now.

I have seen a few people who suggested that after the truck was reprogrammed, it drove great for a while then slipped back into how it was previously. This suggests that there are parameters in the truck (not sure if its PCM, TCM, ECM...) that are reset when these TSB's are applied, then after a bit of driving the truck resorts back to its old patterns.

Ford likely knows this transmission has design flaws (6R80) but is hoping they can apply enough bandaid fixes to get them through the warranty periods without a massive recall.

Pulled my boat today and the shudder was terrible...worst ever. Truck doesn't know what to do!! In and out of gears, engine braking when it's not necessary, and a constant " drone" from the drive train or the tranny when on the throttle and truck is climbing a hill looking for more power. Nail the gas to accelerate on the highway and it spits, sputters, and hesitates then, all of a sudden it kicks in and put you back in your seat. Slamming down into 2 nd gear, then, sluggishly climbing up through the gears looking for more power. Continuously pressing the the gas pedal further to the floor trying to anticipate when it's going to either downshift, or continue to lug and lug. Throttle response is in the crapper. Last summer I towed a good bit with relatively few issues, and this year, this truck runs like an old POS!!! I'm to pissed for words!!! Ecoboost...10800 on the odo! Anyone share a similar experience when towing this year?

Sounds like a ECM issue. Seriously, sounds like your computer is not getting the data correctly. Transmissions ,by themselves, are stupid, something is not talking to the tranny, with all the other issues you are having I would start suspecting HW, software issues.

Just my 2cents worth.

Here's what I found

Transmission temperature
Under 150 degrees F = Very little or no shudder at any speed.
150 - 170 degrees F = More 55-60 mph shudder
170 - 190 degrees F = Shudder with mild acceleration and 55-70 mph shudder
190- 205 degrees F = aggressive shudder at any speed, slipping sensation with any acceleration, slipping & shuddering 70 - 90 mph, aggressive shudder when no throttle decelerating from 80 - 60 mph.

When the outside temperature is cold, transmission temp does not exceed 160 degrees F and shudder is rarely noticeable.

Seems to be getting worse with time. Started faint shudder at 10k miles, now at 30k. All signs point to a transmission or torque converter problem.
