2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
Well, since my last post was taken down because of being thought of as spam... My SUGGESTION or question to throw out there is have anyone tried wrapping up the turbos or intake pipes with heat sheilding? Just a thought... I don't really want to spend any money on this thing to fix Ford's design flaws, but would be curious to see if it helped.
You would still get condensation in the intercooler. You get condensation when warm humid air meets a relatively cool surface. You can't warm up the intercooler or it's not a cooler. They will have to deal with the condensate after its collected.
Ford should send an engineer team with at least 100 F150 EcoBoost’s and drive them constantly in South East Texas the next 48 hours, so they can get a handle of what is going on.
The worst time to drive is from 3AM to 9AM. This is a live chart, so it changes a lot. As I posted this, SE Texas is the only place in the nation this occurs for such long periods of time.

Of course, he THEN got a taste of what this thing can do WHEN IT RUNS! Left dual scratch probably 6-8 feet when it finally got gas again, broke the tires loose when it shifted and I was going 50. Just that quick.
Sadly that chart also explains why we've had large hail and too many tornadoes to count tonight too.
Scary thing is the main line is 3 hours west of here as of midnight but there have been all these popcorn type isolated storms out ahead of it producing 1/2 mile wide tornadoes. If there aren't a bunch of deaths and injuries tomorrow tallied after tonight, it will simply be a miracle. One 1/2 miler skirted southeast Wichita [again]. We're fortunately on the northeast side.
And, it's just April . . .

With the problems people are describing around lack of power when you need it and the safety problems it's creating both for the F150 owners and other people on the road, all it will take is one big accident created as a result of this challenge, and Ford will have a real mess on their hands (Firestone repeat)?? I would hate to see it come down to that, but in the absence of clear communication and no commitment for a fix, this just sounds like a big lawsuit brewing. I almost wish this forum was powerful enough to bring more public exposure to the issue....to those who are having the problem but don't visit these forums, etc. A class action lawsuit is one such way.
As a prospective buyer, I'm glad I take the time to research vehicles and learn about these issues. I'm located in CA, and maybe the problem isn't happening out here due to climate, but I still wouldn't buy a vehicle knowing this problem exists. If more people spent time visiting these forums vs relying on a sales person to tell them how great a vehicle is, one would think the impact on sales would be enough to speed up the process and communication. I also agree with one of the other members who commented on the disappointment around Ford continueing to crank out production on a problematic design.
All of this being said, I'm hopeful that Ford will find a fix. I'm ready to buy and will likely do so in '13 provided the '13's don't have the same performance/design flaw.
Before I bought my EB I was considering a Yukon Hybrid. You should read some of those blog's, Yikes!! Guys having their truck for a week then sitting on a hoist for a month. Then doing it again. GM having to buy them back in the end.
I wished Ford would put in a small clean Diesel in their 1/2 tons. I would have bought that over the EB for sure.

I keep seeing "Class Action" mentioned. I understand that these lawsuit do have their time and place, but the thought scares the heck out of me. The only people who make out on a class action lawsuit are the lawyers.
This morning I noticed about a pint sized puddle of something under my truck. I backed it out of the garage onto the drive way to warm up and found the puddle on the garage floor to be water. My driveway has a pretty good incline and when my son came out to leave with me he pointed out something was leaking under the truck. Sure enough it was water, dripping down directly from the exhaust cross over pipe that connects the 2 exhaust banks. It was dripping at a pretty good pace. Seems I have a significant amount of water in my exhaust? Is this common? I realize condensation forms in exhaust and I've seen water drip a little water out the exhaust on other vehicles however this seems signficant and the puddle in the garage leaked out sometime between driving the truck home 2 days ago and parking it. It hasn't been driven since. Ironically the last time I drove it was when I picked it up at the dealer after having the 12-10-2 flash done.
