Don't you think somebody should try it?

No, and I wouldn't even attempt it at this point. I am not questioning the brand (I have used plenty of Amsoil products in my day), but instead what Ford may try to pull if they figure out that I put a product in that wasn't approved by them.

I can see it now -

1. Ford: The problem was created by the aftermarket lubricant
2. Amsoil: Problem not caused by our product - see line 1
3. Me: No proof or evidence to prove 1 or 2 wrong (which means I am wrong)

I promise there will only be one person holding the bag when this scenario ends and it won't be Ford or Amsoil.

Nothing without Ford's approval will go in or on my truck until they get this problem figured out. I am 100% by the book on everything. I don't need to give them any ammunition. If Amsoil can fix the problem, it is up to Ford to figure that out. A warranty is nothing other than an insurance policy. The cost of that policy is built into the price of the vehicle. We have already paid Ford to figure this out. The ball is now in their court.

Also, while I am not sure about the current Mercon LV, most of Motorcraft's lubicants over the past 10 years have been nothing but quality. It would be different if Ford was just dumping any old 20 wt tranny fluid in there, but most of Ford's specs aren't easily met without the use of quality base fluids and additives.

what if it fixes it? its not about amsoil, any good brand that didn't come from the factory. one small mess up 0n tranny fluid can make the tranny act weird. I am going to change my tranny fluid out at 10,000 miles with amsoil and see how it runs. just figured somebody would have tried it by now. I dont have the shutter except when its cold outside and i just start the truck and go but i should see a improvement. it's not very cold in texas anymore so i will keep you guys posted.

Just had the most recent TSB done on my truck last thursday. Shudder still there. What I've noticed is that although my idle was pretty smooth, now it's even smoother. I didn't see any major changes in liters/100km but a slight increase (worse). Usually at 107km/hr I get an easy 11 ltrs/100km. Yesterday filled her up, did a reset of tha data on the computer and drove 120km (75miles) back and forth to my sisters at 107Km/hr and was steady at 12 ltrs/100km.

My dealer as been very professional, they wanted to leave the work order open and make sure it's followed up closely. I stayed beside the ''master mechanic'' the whole time and he showed me on OASIS the issues looked at by FORD for the shudder. WOW scary !! Tranny, turbos, waste gates, etc...

Anyhow, I still love my truck and feel in good hands.

We'll see shortly what happens ( I hope).

Experienced the same thing when I first had the tsb. My idle has since returned to being rough and sometimes cranks over a lot to get it started.

Keeping the work order open can benefit them more than you. If you take it in 6 mores times and they keep the work order open the whole time, it will show you had 1 issue and they worked on it 1 time. That's fine unless you eventualy decide to take action or lemon law your truck.

have you guys tried running only premium gas? the turbo charged engine runs hotter (i would think) and it may help in burning cleaner when excellerating up hill. i know the problem probably isn't this easy, but it's a thought.

btw... a few people in this thread have said the gas mileage hasn't been better as it's gotten warmer. gas mileage is optimal at 59 deg F. something to keep in mind if you're interested.

Me too in regards to the idle. One of the many things I absolutely despise about this truck. It idles like a 50 year old POS. The tach. needle bounces all over the place and the engine at idle feels like complete garbage. Of course Ford says "everything is normal", even after I reproduce the rough idle and show them videos on my phone of the crappy idle.

I wish I never got rid of my 12 year old truck that puts this thing to shame.

Care to elaborate on the milage at 59 degrees F. I'm no expert but I'd venture to say there are quite a few variables to optimal fuel mileage...
I think a PM would best to keep the thread on topic.

1050 posts and 105 pages long about this issue with our trucks. You paying any attention here Ford?? Would be a shame if we had to take out business elsewhere.
