"when he emerged, he had the tsb for 5-10 mph shudder printed out, stated that they could not find the TSB that i was referencing, and swore that the issue had been resolved. No further discussion was allowed as the service manager darted away , shoving the service paperwork and the TSB that didn't apply in my hand. "

Nice! How can he say he can't find the TSB? Every other dealer has it! Hell, we all know of it. That kind of service drives me insane.

Default shudder

So, the Ford rep called me today and she wants me to take my truck back to the dealer, a tech and an engineer are going to look at my truck. I suggest everyone call customer care, because my truck now has a case number assigned and everything is being documented.

It is just a customer service follow up thing they do I guess. I explained the situation and told her that the service I received from the dealership was fine but that I was getting tired of hearing that a fix is coming from Ford for the shutter issue. She said she would have a customer service rep from Ford get in touch with me. Sure enough a couple of hours later a customer service rep from Ford called me and took some info opened up a case for me and gave a free 5yr/75k extended warranty for the transmission. This is probably just another case of Ford blowing smoke but it kind of took me by surprise that they called me and did that without me calling and pitching a fit.
Sounds like Ford is getting desperate!

Just an FYI don't lose your printed service records. And if something is not on your service printout that should be on there don't leave the dealer until they alter it to reflect what should be on there. Like a refusal to repair, or acknowledgment of an issue with no resolution.

Don't think for a second that Ford Customer Care is or will keep your records for you. About 50% of what I discussed with Ford magically disappeared when they showed up for arbitration. You're best defense is accurate records of your own.

I believe your right on the misfire detection as I have not seen anyone else comment on it.

I am tending to agree with the tranny adding to the shudder but not 100% it is the primary cause, too hard to tell. Just a quick rundown since things get lost quickly in a thread this large. I had several solenoids replaced in the tranny and had the "Neutral Misfire Detection" done, the solenoids did help but did not completely remove the shuddering. The Misfire helped more but alas, did not completely remove the shudder. Oh, I am still getting horrible gas mileage, and black soot at the tailpipe, warmer weather has not increased my mileage one bit...

Today I am still experiencing the shudder and it is at all speeds but albeit not as bad as it originally started out. The tranny is slipping, slamming into gear and when in a parking lot and stopping and putting it in reverse it will first slip, then slam into reverse...this tranny is the biggest POS ever to come out of an American Manufacturer.

People, listen to his advise...I went through the Lemon Law once and can atest to their attitude during arbitration and sudden loss of records.

Anyone heard from bucketman since he had the field engineer work on his truck? I remember him saying it was gone after they worked on it but no update since then if it came back or not.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have probably purchased 20 new vehicles in my lifetime and I can only remember one that had a worse transmission. I never know what this thing is going to do next. There are so many intermittent problems. Bucking, surging hesitating...The other day I was backing out of my driveway, and let off the gas; the tranny clunked and surged hard for a second in reverse. It scared the crap out of me. My 2012 has 6000 miles on it and runs like a truck that has 200000 miles on it.
I have said this before, I have never driven a vehicle that ran more poorly, that didn't have a check engine light on.

I'm still here. Far as I know the shudder is still gone. Why do I say it like that? Cause I rarely drive the truck, and when I do its for short distances in town. I had it on the highway the other day for a couple miles and it did not shudder. With all the other problems I have, I hate this truck more than anything in the world right now, such a complete POS. So, I drive my wife's Escape when possible.

I have a trip to Baltimore coming up next month. I may take the truck, not sure yet. Only going to do that if I cant cram all the gear and family in the Escape.
