I'm generally confused as to why OTA updates that failed do not show up in FDRS as available to install?

99% of the time, they are in FDRS. They just don't have a reference like 6.x.x or 23-PUxxxx-xx. It will just show as an update for a particular module.

yup. But in the case of the last few (the ones that failed installing) they have not.

I'd have to check your VIN in FDRS to confirm. I only checked it in PTS yesterday, and PTS is not showing any pending modules updates.

What's the difference between FDRS and PTS?

Repost from the other forum in regards to the OTA that reduced the volume on the 8 speaker B&O system:

Good news! Anyone who has auto-updates turned off can go ahead and turn it back on. I do not have a lot of info to share, but I can tell you that this OTA has been paused to a sublet of vehicles while more research is conducted on what is causing the problem.

I do not have any news for those already affected by the problem as to what the resolution will be or when it will happen. If I had to guess, the path of least resistance would be to revert people back to the previous software via the OTA process, but this is pure conjecture on my part.

FDRS is "Ford Diagnostic Repair System". It is the software dealer techs use to diagnose vehicles, update modules, and lot more.

PTS is "Professional Technician System" and it is a website that can pull the info from a connected vehicle and can show open recalls, warranty history, OTA history, DTC codes being reported to Ford, wiring diagrams, and a lot more.

These two things are not in direct communication with each other and sometimes PTS will show one thing in terms of pending updates and FDRS will show another. Both can capable of doing certain things the other cannot do. I am fortunate enough to have access to both.

That's crazy but not entirely suprising for an old company like Ford that's had systems like that for decades. They were designed using old technology but locked into that due to the millions of older vehicles they have to maintain compatibility with.

PTS has been around forever. FDRS is relatively new; older vehicles have a different program called IDS that was used for older tech vehicles. Both PTS and FDRS are actually VERY good. As someone who works for a dealer with 9 different brands we sell and service, I see what other manufacturers have and Ford's system is WAY better.
