OTA 6.4.0 has been sent to you twice, the second time being today. It failed today because the truck failed to properly go into inhibit mode when the update tried to install. There is nothing you did wrong and nothing you could have done differently. Nothing you can do now but wait for it to be resent to you.

Are North American VPNs legal in the UAE? If so, and if you connect the truck to the VPN by wifi, does it register as being in N America?

Default Update to previous posting

Rugedraw,

I posted here about a month ago. So I took my truck in for an oil change a few weeks ago and it turns out my battery was bad. It's probably been bad for quite a while because my auto start/stop started working again since 2 years. An update popped up recently but nothing looks different and the about sync info is still the same. I took it to the dealership for a service appointment about the issue and the rep said he looked it up and everything was up to date, I received my latest OTA update, and my sync version was at the most recent version. I asked him to look up my updates history to see if it showed me receiving an the updates I had been missing, and he just fed me the line of I received the latest Feb update. I called Ford customer service and they said I needed to be at version 23115, not the 21146 I'm at. Thet asked what the build was listed as and I don't even have that showing. The customer service rep said i should start receiving an the updates i missed now at some point. Also told me to set my update schedule to everyday, but that's not even an option for me. So I don't know if the dealership is just incompetent or feeding me BS to not deal with it. Not sure if the Ford customer service rep is doing the same. All quite frustrating. Think i might try a different dealership. Can you take a look again at my info and see what you think. VIN 1FTFW1E83MFB16292

It is believed that OTA's download via the vehicle's cellular network even if connected to wifi. Using a VPN would most likely not resolve the issue. If the modem is not registered with the server as eligible for updates, the server would never create an OTA trigger for the vehicle even if you can trick the server with a VPN.

Interesting. You received an APIM update 5 days ago with no release notes on it. You say your truck is on Sync 21146 and your auto-updates button is grayed out and you cannot toggle it on? Do you know if you were already on Sync 21146 when you got the OTA a few days ago, or were you on an older version of Sync before that OTA?

To answer your question: You are no where near up to date. The latest Sync is actually 23291. 21146 is from the 146th day of 2021, so that software is close to 3 years old now. When you can, send me a pic of your entire "about sync" screen. The server is not showing a Sync version at all for your truck and I need the info on that screen to ask someone else to look into your truck for you for possible config issues.

Rugedraw,

My auto update is not grayed out, just doesn't give me the option of selecting updates to be received everyday as the customer service rep was suggesting. And yes i gave been on that 21146 for a long time, well before this Kaysar update. The picture you requested is attached. Thanks for looking into all this.

Ok, then your situation is most likely not bad; you are just VERY behind on updates. Give me until Monday to look into this as my contact is out of the office until then.

Welcome to the club. I got this update Last April after a new APIM install and nothing since except a failure of some sort last May. Spoke to Ford yesterday and the Rep stated many people call and complain about it. Thought I would let them know how I feel too. He said the dealer should update it, but we all know better. I will try the dealer again when I ever take it in for service or a recall but I wont hold my breath.
