Software Updates
Welcome to the club. I got this update Last April after a new APIM install and nothing since except a failure of some sort last May. Spoke to Ford yesterday and the Rep stated many people call and complain about it. Thought I would let them know how I feel too. He said the dealer should update it, but we all know better. I will try the dealer again when I ever take it in for service or a recall but I wont hold my breath.
So now, a dealer would have pay a tech about 16 hours worth of labor to get your truck fully updated, and they cannot bill Ford not even $1 for labor. No tech will do it for free, and no service manager will approve hundreds of dollars in labor charges off of his bottom line without it being billable hours.
So, the burden falls on Ford for the bad update, the bad OTA process, and for not paying dealers to update the vehicles that their OTA process cannot.
Edit: This is not a Ford only thing. This is how it is. The dealer group I work for now has 9 different brands that we sell and service. We do not update modules on anything unless there is a recall or TSB associate with the module update. Ford should have, imo, taken accountability for the bad software they sent early job 1 2021 trucks.

Ford released that bad update that caused vehicles to get stuck. Ford never issued a recall or s TSB to specifically address vehicles stuck on Sync 20262/20301. The closest thing they released was TSB 22-2404 for APIMs and a few other modules that won't update, but the TSB is vague and does not specifically address the problem. Once you figure out a way to get the dealer to get you out of the bad software, you are then dependent on the OTA process to get you caught up after falling years behind, because the TSB will only pay for them to update that one module and not everything that's pending.

You catch more flies with honey than with sh*t. I would recommend you start looking in FDRS and do it yourself.
True statement. I've been pretty cool with the guy at the local Ford dealership, but it's sounding like there is just not much they can do there as it is. Looking like I'll have to start researching and just figure it out on my own.
Last OTA you got was in September of last year. You are missing the 6.x.x updates. Your truck is fine, though. You just gotta wait for the server to queue up the next update for you.

The reason they are having issues with the update is a bit technical and difficult for me to explain because I don't fully understand it myself. I am not a software engineer. With that said: In this case, my contact can make you a custom update that you should get your APIM updated to the next revision level. You would need a 32GB or bigger USB drive formatted to exFAT that you would insert into the USB slot located under your a/c controls and then follow a procedure that I will more provide more details on should you want to try it yourself. If you are interested, message me with your email so I can send you the files and the instructions.
