Any good charger will switch from charge to trickle mode once it detects the battery is fully charged.
Certainly, and all of mine do except one very old one. But in trickle/maintenance mode the amperage supplied is typically very small.
On the Chlore unit you linked it says it will supply up to 20A as needed to keep the system voltage at 14.1 volts. I don't think any of my automatic chargers will do that after it reaches Fully Charged status.
Reading the User Manual, I noticed this: ". Also, this operational mode is intended for use in a wide variety of repair applications, but is not intended for use when flash reprogramming vehicle modules – such reprogramming requires amperages great than the output of this charger". Greater than 20 amps?? That's a lot of juice!
I don't know if any of these updates fall into the "flash reprogramming" category. AFAIK this probably pertains to older ECMs that have to be flashed when installed.
At any rate, I'll probably order one of these chargers. At the price of batteries today, and as many as I have in my fleet, it's almost mandatory to have the best available.
You actually did get an APIM update sent in November, but it failed due to a file verification process after it downloaded the files.
Update: Now I have the "Trailer Module/quick turn signals" issue, so I made an appointment to address that as well as the failed APIM update.
Although this truck has never stranded me, I'm glad I don't have to depend on this for everyday use.
Fingers crossed.
The APIM did not go through. They can try again, and if it continues to fail, the will have to contact engineering or they can t TSB 22-2404 if they know about it and have the right cables to do it, but I think they have done enough to the point where I would not be mad at them if they can't get it to go though.
Yes, but they may have to update your APIM more than once to get you to the latest Sync. Not every APIM update will give you a higher Sync version.
Thanks @rugedraw - appreciate all your help. Got lucky with a service advisor who is happy to work it out to see all gets updated. They have the truck tomorrow for the whole day so hopefully they manage to get it done. The advisor did say that there were some issues so they had to retry and in the last attempt - it was 4/13GB download for the USB stick. Will keep this thread posted once I hear back tomorrow.
I asked Jesse to look at your truck, and everything is fine. You have the updates you are missing showing on the server, but you just are having some sh*tty luck with the OTA process. I would recommend updating the truck yourself with a Mongoose and FDRS. I can add you to the waiting list to borrow one of mine if you don't want to spend the money on one.

Thanks Rugedraw for looking into this. I took my in for an oil change yesterday and they had to switch out the battery because it was bad. Not sure if that had something to do with it. My truck is still under warranty, do you think taking it in to the dealer will help before trying to do it on my own?

Warranty or not, Ford does not pay dealers to update modules unless there is a recall or bulletin associated with performing update(s), or multiple update failures in your OTA dashboard, etc. While some people have gotten lucky and their dealer has updated their vehicles for them, it is not the norm and it should not be your expectation. You can plead your case and ask. If they can update you APIM, GWM and TCU, it would be huge help in the process to trigger more updates to start rolling in.
I made an appointment on the 17th. I will see if I can convince them to update those. If not, I'll get on your waiting list to borrow the to needed tool to update. Your help has been much appreciated. Thank you again.

@rugedraw FYI I read the contract that was offered to me on purchase. The dealer is responsible for updates since OTA updates in UAE and Middle East are blocked (just like FordPass). The only way updates can be done is through a dealer so that would explain why they have been so helpful. But 100 percent agree with what you said for the North American market.

I didn't know that, but that makes sense. If that is the case, put them to work.
