Software Updates
Yes, Ford either messed up by sending these updates out to trucks missing older software, or they stopped caring and just started rolling it out to give people what they know they can. Who knows? Either way, trucks that got skipped over updates will now require a Mongoose and help from the community to get what they are missing. Not ever dealers will be able to get these trucks what they are missing.
My truck is currently on 4.2.4 and I don't have cameras while in motion. Is the process of getting the software I'm missing more involved than just updating everything I can using FDRS, and if so can you point me towards the extra steps (or correct search terms) I would need to take to identify the missing software and install it? My truck has been updated with FDRS multiple times so it's hard to know which power-up updates were skipped for that reason, and which ones may have been skipped for another.
If you already have a Mongoose, then let me know. I will put you in contact with @Jesse - Infotainment who will help you do it. He is not on this forum anymore. I suggest opening an account on F150gen14 forum. All the problems associated with these OTA's are better described there. He will not be able to tell you what to do. You would have to connect your truck to the Mongoose and give him remote access to your computer so he can do what he does. This cannot be fixed with FDRS.
Based on your answer, this question is probably better directed towards Jesse; but if FDRS cannot get me the software I need at all, would Jesse have to fix my truck again if a module like the APIM needs to be replaced in the future since FDRS would presumably still omit needed software?
Would it be possible to program a blank APIM using the VIN of a truck that has all the updates to get the correct software or is FDRS and the OTA update system really just incomprehensibly broken at this point and even trucks that got the updates are screwed in the event of a module replacement?
I really don't understand how Ford is handling these updates, I would have thought that programming a new blank module or non-responsive module would trigger FDRS to install all the software needed to be current. I also would have thought that each update wipes the previous software completely like a typically PC BIOS update or module a update on other brands, but it seems like they are just pushing out poorly coded patches that cause more problems than they solve.
Thank you for the info, I feel bad bothering Jesse with so many issues, but Ford has broken so many different things on my truck, it's absolutely ridiculous.

Is it possible one of the latest updates has messed up the operation of my driver's side window? I ask because, when I try to activate auto up, the window won't respond. I now have to hold the switch until it's completely closed. The passenger side window operates as normal...

3.5.2 was sent to you on 5/18 and 3.5.3 was sent to you today. Your truck is on Sync 22177 and is due other OTA's before getting the ones you are getting now. If 3.5.3 goes through, your truck will never get cameras in motion or the advanced pro trailer back up assist function.
the system will try again.
