I'm as updated as updated can be AFAIK, with even the evil Alexa trying to break in...

But I notice an issue. On the main12.5 screen in the middle, When using the 3/4-1/4 screen split, the split no longer echos the choices I make in the driver's display. Its stuck on where I was when the latest batch of updates came through. Still looking for a way to change those settings or resync the two screens.

Curious what everyone else thinks....
Simple: Ford does not care. There is no way their engineering team does not know that sending updates out of order is going to cause future configuration issues. They do not pay dealers to update modules even when under warranty. If your truck skips updates, your only way to get them is to do it yourself. Dealers can't help you even if they wanted to if this happens, as they are limited to FDRS and not all configuration issues can be fixed straight up with FDRS.

My opinion? This is only really affecting early build 2021 trucks, which is a small minority of the gen14 trucks that are out on the road now in 2023. They decided to just give these guys something so they can stop complaining about not getting anything. Most truck owners that don't follow these forums are oblivious to these update issues and to them, ignorance is bliss. They just get in their trucks one day and said: "Wow! I have full-screen carplay now! Thanks, Ford!" not knowing they just got screwed out of features.

It's funny, that now the guys who have never gotten updates are in a better position than the guys that have, because getting their trucks updated will be an easier and straight up process they can do themselves as opposed to those trucks that got updates skipped over.

I think they therefore may not fall under warranty. Same is true for many other platforms like phones and computers.

the only thing in the OTA process that might change this are those who bought the Blue Cruise stuff. That would need to be delivered to fulfill the sales contract and “warranty”.

maybe I am wrong…
I am inclined to say you are correct. Which is why the recall 21G01 exists for Bluecruise programming ONLY. If you do not have a job 1 2021 Bluecruise capable truck, the dealer has no way to to get paid for updating modules. The problem is, based on what I read on the update 21G01 Ford released, this will not fix the configuration issues caused by the OTA's skipping over the Bluecruise update. The dealer will have to involve Ford engineering. They will have to figure out a way to do it. Most likely, they will have to put 21G01 on hold now AGAIN until they figure out how to fix what they messed up just like they had to put it on hold when they messed up with the IPC updates and they put it on hold for 5 months in January of this year.

Interesting take @rugedraw and @addabob. I can see a class action lawsuit coming Ford's way over these updates. It will only take one angry F150 owner that misses out on some cool feature, bug fix, etc. and has some money to burn to hire a lawyer. But you're right, probably 99.99% of F150 owners have no idea what or if they are missing updates.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'm not sure why, I just have been finding this topic quite interesting since purchasing my 2022 a couple months ago.

I just received this update on the 6th. It didn't have a update number attached to it either. Mine is a Job 1 truck manufactured in 12/2020.

People have brought up the class action lawsuit several times. Good luck with the super team of lawyers Ford has on retention. It's cheaper, easier and infinitely more productive to just buy the $550 tool you need to fix the truck yourself. The truth is, the current generation F150 is a bad-*** truck and a great product once you get it right. I don't understand the apprehension people have who spend $60k-$75k on a truck and then refuse to invest another couple hundred dollars to overcome Ford's short-comings. Not to mention dealing with the incompetent and/or unwilling dealerships. It's beyond satisfying to not have to depend on a dealer for updates, diagnostics and module calibrations when they are needed. IMO: The Mongoose is worth the price of admission even if your truck doesn't have problems.

It's a priority update and not a power up update. It says it at the bottom. 22-PU1009. It's a BCM update that improvement to the trailer/tag lights, but it also has a fix for a flickering headlight issue that some trucks with the quad headlight system were having.

I was lucky in that they were able to get my ‘21 Job 1 through the Blue Cruise enablement debacle, even though it was painful. I have the Mongoose now but am trying to just wait until features are released. I am up to 4.2.4 with OTA and have received all of the earlier ones too. I haven’t seen the 4.3.x stuff yet, so hopefully I will continue to be lucky on the OTA update front…

If I recall, you and I were receiving the 4.2.x updates on the same schedule, within a day or two after seeing you had received one, I would get the same one…

Yea, I haven't gotten the 4.3.x updates, either. Our VINs are probably in the same wave or OTA releases. We should be getting them soon. Either way, they give you nothing new or tangible. When they come, they come. If they do release something worth using my Mongoose for, I will do so with no hesitation.
