Wondering if someone would be so kind as to check on my updates status. I received 3.5.2 last week and then yesterday I found my truck in "Deep Sleep Mode". This is the first time I've ever seen the truck do that in the 2 1/2 years I've owned it, which is leading me to suspect that another download happened and ran the battery down. I put the truck on a battery tender yesterday but haven't seen another update notice on my app. I'm in the process of detailing it currently so I haven't actually turned the truck on or driven it since Monday. Thanks in advance!

Your truck has been recording low battery voltage codes for a while. You were sent 3.5.3 on 5/12 just two days after 3.5.2 and it failed due to a checksum failure. It was sent to you again yesterday afternoon and it is sitting in your queue right now. I assumed you haven't driven your truck in a bit because the update attempt hasn't kicked off yet and it will only kick off if you turn it on or at least turn the ignition on.

With that said: You are on Sync 22177 and are still very behind on updates. Your truck is not ready for that update yet, which is why it failed and why I hope it fails again. If updates are installed in the incorrect order, it can cause major configurations issues. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to prevent this from happening. Ford's is really dropping the ball pushing out these updates to trucks that aren't ready for them. I've seen a lot of this lately.

Edited for grammar.....Idk what I was thinking when I first typed this up, but it was bad.

Sheesh, well that sucks. I'm taking it in to the dealership for the wiper recall tomorrow so maybe I'll give them a shout and ask them to look at the update situation. I'll be persistent as I'm sure I'll get the run around. I'll reiterate exactly what you have written above.

So forgive me if this question should be obvious but does this mean that without manually updating the modules I'm up ****'s creek like many of the others in this thread? Thank you very much for the responses and looking into this for me!

They will find an excuse not to do it, because Ford does not pay them for the hours and hours it takes to update modules. Your truck needs 12 hours worth of module updates I'd say to be fully up to date They're going to pull up your OTA dashboard, tell you that your truck is getting updates, and that you're fine. In a way they are right, because there is nothing wrong with your truck. The problem lies with Ford itself and their OTA process. The issues these trucks have are at a software engineering level that dealers and their technicians know nothing about. Hell, I don't know anything about it.....I just know how to fix it and that it is better to do it sooner than later. You tell them what I told you and that you heard it from some stranger on the internet, and they will laugh at you as soon as you walk out that door.

To anybody who is as far behind as you are, I would recommend manually updating at this point. If Ford hasn't figured out how to get these 2021 trucks updated via OTA yet 2 years later, then they aren't going to. At least not anytime soon.

Do you know if ANYONE at all has gotten their dealership to perform the manual updates? I guess I'm certainly not going to hold my breath that they do it for me. I wonder how dealerships are selling the used 2021's when they are so far behind. Or perhaps it's intentional from Ford so people buy the new trucks since they have the new (really just updated) GUIs and this helps date the older trucks.

I wonder if I can return that Mongoose after I've used it. That's a chunk of change. I'm over on f150gen14 forum reading through the thread now to prepare for what will likely be a manual update in my garage. I'm still under bumper to bumper for another 2,310 miles but I have another 10 year 100k mile extended after that. So I wonder if manually updating would affect warranty at all. So many questions. Many of them rhetorical, so don't feel obligated to answer them all. Haha. Again, thank you very much for the help and advice.

I've been here helping people with these issues for months and months now, so it's no trouble for me to type a little. This thread has gotten way too long for anyone to read through it and get any answers.

Yes, a few people have been successful in getting a dealer to do it. The odds are not in your favor by a long shot, but you can try.

You can sell the Mongoose after you use it and get most of your money back. You may lost $150-$200, but that's a small price to pay to get the truck you paid for.

It is not an issue of warranty. Module updates ae not covered under warranty. Module repair and replacements are, but there is nothing wrong with your truck. No warranty implications at all. You'd be paying Ford for a 2-day license for access to the same software your dealer uses. I manually updated my truck twice.....it's not difficult; just time consuming.

Edit: If you are in no rush, look up my community mongoose thread stickied to the OTA section of gen14 forums and get in line to borrow one of mine. The waiting list is long though and it will take me a few months before I can get to you.

I do not see any settings on the large screen ANYWHERE to change back to KM's while console is in KM's

Everything set for KM's everywhere but large screen still shows MILES remaining while KM mode. I have looked at every possible settings everywhere and do not see how to separately change the large screen to KM's

I saw someone with a similar issue on another forum, but I don't remember how they fixed it. Try resetting your APIM. With the truck running, hold down the radio power button and forward seek button at the same time for ten seconds until the screen reboots.

Well all I can do is try I guess. If the dealership refuses I'll go the manual route. I have done Forscan mods so I'm familiar with FRDS and it looks like the guide to do the updates with the Mongoose is very comprehensive which gives me high confidence in performing the updates myself. Agreed 100% that is a small price to pay to get the truck I paid for. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd want to sell it in the case that I need to perform a manual update again like you have. I saw the waiting list for yours on there. I might throw my name on the list but I tend to be impatient with these sorts of things. Haha. Not sure how the wife will feel about me spending $540 on an update tool though so I might have to wait. Sounds like it would be easy to resell if I decided to though. Thanks again!
