Software Updates
Hi - can you check my VIN?
1FTFW1ED4MFA84871
2021 PowerBoost
it failed on 2.8.1 because of a low 12v battery issue - dealer replaced the main 12v battery , but not the auxiliary one under the back seat. That fixed the “12V battery in state of low charge” error and system deep sleeping, but truck seems to have given up trying to install 2.8.1 even though app says it is ready. Truck parked, on WiFi (though only 6 Mbs connection according to my router). Auto update schedule set, brake on, lights off. I called Ford and they couldn’t tell me why it wasn’t installing, told me to take to dealer. Dealer told me something about a stopped BlueCruise update (which I don’t think this was?).
Any help is appreciated. I tried the FordPass scriptable widget, but it fails for me on iOS 16.

Instead of continually posting the same generic response, could you actually engage in the conversation? Perhaps have someone from the OTA team participate and provide some explanation/logic behind the OTA/PowerUp process, which trucks get updates and when/why? Otherwise you add little value.

Yea, that update is to prep you for future updates. You won't see anything new with it.
The OTA trigger for 2.8.1 expired back on 1/24. I can see it still shows pending in the system, but the OTA did expire and you have to wait for it to be resent to try it again. Many people have had issues with that particular OTA and the low battery issue. It requires the vehicle to be inhibited for almost 2 hours while it installs. The next time you get the OTA trigger, connect your truck to a 10amp+ battery charger in the evening when you park it for the night, and leave it charging overnight. Set the update to install at 4am or so after the truck has been on the charger for hours and keep it on the charger while it installs. This will significantly increase the chance of it installing.
