The only way to install the update by force is with a Mongoose OBDII tool and an FDRS license to access Ford's dealer tech software. You're looking at about $600 to do it.

Got my 4.2.1.2 update today. Improvements in the Connect Modem.... Everything still works - have not noticed any real differences yet.

No doubt they dropped the ball with this OTA process. It really is garbage.

Can a dealership get this done?

Yes, but they most likely won't. Module updates take hours to perform and Ford does not pay dealers to update modules. Most people that ask their dealer to update their trucks get some kind of excuse or run-around.

If you are in no rush, I have 2 mongoose tools that I am lending out. Lmk if you want me to add you to the waiting list.

I should be so lucky. Not 1 update since the day I bought it in October 2021. I’m still on 1.4. It’s going in tomorrow for recalls and this software circus.

Can’t wait to see what my dealer does tomorrow when I take it in for this. They never gave me a hard time so far with anything else.

Picking mine up this morning from the dealer. They did an oil change and fixed an issue with the passenger rear door. I asked them to bring my Sync up to current. No dice. They said Ford is having issues with SYNC updates right now and don't want to break what's currently working. Everything IS working so I tended to agree with them. Pretty sad state of affairs when the dealership feels they can't stand behind the product due to buggy software and poor training. Not a sustainable situation if Ford wants to remain profitable.

And after just reading another thread about the problems with the new update 4.2.1, I am rethinking even bringing it up and just leaving it alone not to mess it up even more. Thanks for the info.
