So what are the chances of a malfunction that would leave the truck dead?.

Slim to none. You seem to be (for a lack of better words) afraid of these updates. There is no need to be. The things that concerns people here is NOT getting updates. The worst thing that can happen with an OTA is that it prevents you from getting more OTA's, but it isn't going to turn your truck into a giant paper weight.

Let's go with "slim". While it wasn't (at this point) an OTA, I painfully recall my truck being left completely dead after a bad BCM update that Ford released.

The crazy thing is the bad BCM update is still in FDRS.

Now they are pushing an OTA to fix the bad BCM update they released on FDRS. However, if you get the OTA and then run a network scan with FDRS, the bad BCM update pops up and if you apply it, it goes back to the bad one. They have some serious issues. lol

Whoo Hoo! I'm catching up fast. Yesterday my 2021 job 1 received an OTA update 22-PU0706-SCH-POPA The wiki says September 2022 Minor Adjustments. Only a bucket full more OTAs and I'll be caught up. At least OTAs are working for the moment. The only update I actually care about (or think I care about) is the one that will allow me to use the trailer target rather than the YAW module.

My truck finally received the 2.6 update this week. Way behind, but at least something happened. Will keep my fingers crossed for continuing updates.

They also replaced my battery under warranty. It wouldn’t charge above 60% and the start/stop was non functional as a result. All good now.

Well my truck goes to the dealer for my 3rd APIM on the 23rd. We shall see how long this one lasts. This is getting stupid. This time the GPS stopped working. My truck thinks it’s at Ford HQ in Dearborn MI.
