Sorry but just want to ensure I understand. Is this update going out to truck OTA as well or only something you would need to actively install somehow. Not sure I understand what FDRS references. Tks
It's something you (or a dealership) would have to do manually. FDRS is the factory diagnostic and programming software.
After getting the 22B08 Program update done back on July 12 and getting 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 in short order - then nothing, 2.6.0 loaded this morning! Wow, I feel like I am on a roll now...
Update: got it back from the dealer and I’m now on 2.8.3 but Im not sure what else from yesterday they updated. Blue Cruise isn’t working so I’m wondering if they just did 2.8.3 or did them in order and didn’t do 2.8.2 that activated the BC.
Thanks again.
You may not see BC activate for a couple days. It is not 2.8.3 that enables BlueCruise, since it's a subscription service. It is 2.8.3 that allows the subscription service to be activated. Ford still has to do their part.
My BC started working ~3 days after I got 2.8.3 OTA. Even though the truck would say "BlueCruise Ready" when I turned on cruise control, it was still only once Ford activated my 1 year BC trial that it worked. I got a message from Ford in FordPass once the sub was activated also.
So if BC isn't working yet, don't stress. It may take even longer when done by the dealer, not sure how quickly Ford gets "notice" that 2.8.3 is installed on the truck when it's done by the dealer. I suspect pretty quick though as I imagine the FDRS results are sent back since we see them in OASIS almost immediately.
New member. 2021 F150 XLT 5.0 with pro power onboard
I received notice that 2.8.1 was set to update. It failed many times as was scheduled in my options. Battery fine as auto stop start still functioning. Tried manually updating as well. Then all of a sudden the truck quit trying to update and it’s out of the queue. Any ideas?

Yes, the update failed about 25 times due to low battery voltage. It is very common with 2.8.1 for that to happen. Many people on here have reported issues with that particular update. Just because the auto start/stop was working does not mean anything. Many people have had this update fail even with a battery tender connected to their trucks and the battery at 100% charge. At this point, that OTA campaign that was pushed out to you has expired. You have to wait for it to be sent to you again to try again. I know it's not what you want to hear, but these updates have been a PITA for many people.

With so many failures due to low battery, could this be a sign of a batch of defective batteries? I find it odd that the main reason is a low charge, and most of these vehicles are less than 2 years old.

Nobody knows for sure why this particular update is such a PITA. There are things some people have reported doing like turning off the headlights instead of leaving them on auto and turning on the parking brake before starting the update and that has helped it go through, but people have also had it go through without doing anything special. Ford says this update takes two hours (even though people have reported it gets done in 45 minutes), so unless the battery is at 100%, the update will not even try to install to prevent the truck from getting bricked if it runs out of battery in the middle of the update. Ford coded the updated with some kind of safety measure that seems to be overkill and has caused a lot of people to have trouble with that specific update. Next time it gets pushed out to your truck, find a good battery tender and make sure your battery is at 100% before you start it. Turn on the parking brake, switch the headlights to off, start the update and lock your truck. If you decide to leave the battery tender on during the update, run the power cable down through the engine bay to make sure your hood closes all the way. Lastly, pray to the OTA gods so they shine their light upon thee.
My truck was built late December 2021. Picked it up Jan 12, 2022 and is a 2022 Supecrew Lariat 501A with vin 1FTFW1E85NKD19743. Never have received any updates and online it shows Sync version 4.0.21297 .
Should I be concerned that I have NEVER received any updates?

2022 trucks were built with the latest software already. These only apply to early build date 2021 owners.
