After talking To ford’s OTA rep they told me to
Ensure headlight switch was in off position and parking brake set , battery charged BUT disconnect the charger tender before programming, WiFi. Isn’t needed , it took 53
minutes to down load finally

2021 F-150 Lariat, Screw, 3.5L Ecoboost, FX-4, October 2020 build (Job 1 I think). I got 2.8.3, update Monday 7/25 early am. No Blue Cruise. So far, I've not lost any functionality with the adaptive cruise, etc. that I can find. I got a message after the first download Sunday 7/24 failed to make sure parking break was set, headlights were off. Did that and it took the second attempt, the next night. I don't know if it matters, but....I've had much better success with Power Up updates very early in the morning than during day...maybe less wifi traffic or something like that.

My dealer is overwhelmed, short of techs, minimum 2 week wait for any service. Really trying to keep the truck updated at home to avoid going to the dealer for several days....

You are getting the infamous insufficient battery error. @timtoolman just got his to go through after he called Ford and followed their advice. Get a trickle charger and get your battery up to 100%, turn off your headlight if you have them on auto and turn on your parking brake. At that point, initiate the update and lock your truck. Good luck.

They're working on it. They did three updates on the 25th and one yesterday.

Strange things..I had 2.8.3 come through yesterday. headlights on auto, windows open and unlocked, parking brake off. Still updated OK. Something in the configs must be causing this and doing those things mentioned must fork the code in a different direction to bypass the conflict.

Thanks, none of them worked on the 25th, and I had to take the vehicle yesterday because I am going out of town tonight.. They had to replace the IPMA due to the pre-collision fault I am getting. They tried to get it to program and are getting a coding issue. Service guy told me they have to basically go line by line. it started again yesterday but had to stop it when I had to leave.. They were going to see if an OTA would work, but I don't believe so since this is 2.8.1 that fouled things up and I am at 2.8.3 right now, just without the IPMA programmed....

Hi,
My 2021 job 1 has been in the shop for since Monday. It has never auto updated in almost a year since I bought it. finally found a dealer who was willing work on it. They were going to perform the two programs, the ECM and Tailgate customer bulletins. They initially said it was going good, yesterday they said that the "last" update was taking forever but that they would get it done by COB. Late in the day they called and said they thought it was a voltage regulation problem affecting the APIM and would install a new battery but that meant they would do have to do the updates all over again? They said it didn't need a new APIM?
The couldn't promise it for today but did offer a rental.
Can someone please run the VIN and let me know whats been going on for the four days?

1FTFW1E88MKD95990

TIA

I too had my headlights set to auto and parking brake off. As I stated earlier in the thread, my updates came pretty quickly after I set the auto update to every evening. Could not get any updates to go thru when trying to update manually.
