I just checked your truck. You have OTA 2.7.4 pending for the IPC. It has downloaded into your GWM. Update files are downloaded and stored in the GWM, then unpackaged and installed over the vehicle network to the target ECU. For you, OTA 2.7.4 is stuck in a perpetual attempted install loop. The update will not install because you currently have a persistent DTC in your IPC. In your case U-2100 is present after a previous update (which is common).

I could be wrong, but I'm nearly certain pending downloaded OTA files auto delete from the GWM if they are not successfully installed to the target ECU within 10 days.

The fault can be cleared at home with ForScan or at a dealership with a dedicated visit.

I wrote about the solution in the link below.
If you do not attempt to clear this at home with ForScan and make a service appointment, tell your service advisor you have a corrupt IPC due to a failed OTA. It requires a special recovery PMI procedure where they have to disconnect FRDS half way through in order to complete the recovery.
If they attempt a regular PMI, it will likely fail and they may think it can only be solved by replacing it.

Dealership FRDS / PMI recovery steps are also listed in the link.
They should not have to waste any time ordering a replacement part, but if you take it in, such a service may land outside of a warranty claim. Theoretically someone could end up with a service charge for this type of fault considering ForScan modifications seem to cause it, but that's a debate for later.

Solution to U2100 which prevents updates from installing

It's possible you did. Looks like you had it at the dealer on June 28th. You got 2.8.2 over the air at 2:00PM, and then less than an hour later looks like the dealer did module updates including to your APIM which is what 2.8.3 targets, so they probably brought you across the finish line. Getting 2.8.3 wouldn't show up on FordPass if you got it that way, so it would probably still just be telling you about 2.8.2.

Hello!

I have a Job 1 truck that I have been finally getting OTAs rapidly the last month or so until the latest one; 2.8.1. I keep receiving the "Your vehicle was not able to be updated as scheduled because certain precondition(s) were not met". I've been reading the thread daily and saw folks were able to make it through this update by attaching a battery charger. So I did that this am at 6am and it now reads 98% charged. I pushed the update again, and it still fails. Can someone check to see what it's recording as the precondition failure? If it has one?

thanks!

So 2021 PB max tow. SW updates worked initially but awhile back I noticed it was grayed out and I couldn't turn it on, and SYNC was acting strange with my phone in some circumstances. Took it in for some warranty work and asked the dealer to check the update issue and ensure the truck had all updates. Bottom line, they reprogrammed ECU/AIPM which seemed to fix the issues. Got home and the next day (23 June) I had a notice in Ford Pass that I received an update (1.7.2 I think). I had scheduled updates set 4 days a week, auto updates enabled, connected to wifi with strong signal, and no updates since. Can someone please check VIN 1FTFW1ED2MFB40600 regarding updates and see what's going on please? Thanks in advance.

Did you leave the charger on while the update was trying to install? Even if you did, many people have had issues at this stage of the OTA process.

You received 2.7.1 on 6/23, and you have no other updates in queue since then. That was only two weeks ago, so it's not surprising you haven't had another OTA pushed to your truck yet.

Now being up to date, I think Ford did a great job with the OTAs. Once the OTAs started coming it was one after another in short order.

road trip this weekend and extremely impressed with bluecruise. I just wish they would have more minor highways mapped. And finally having full camera functionality is a big upgrade.

I did not since I can't close my hood with the charger attached to the battery. And it says that having the hood closed was a prerequisite. I thought I read someone else on the list said that was not the case, but since this thread is long I can't find it.

The update to 2.8.1 is a large one. Ford claims 145 minutes, but some people have reported it takes only an hour. I don't know how much battery drain an update can actually cause, but if during the update, the battery gets to a certain percentage (for some reason, 80% is popping into my head......may have read that on this thread, but I could be wrong), then the update will fail. Try dropping the charger down to the ground through the engine bay so you can close the hood after you connect it. People on here have reported the update failing even with the charger hooked up, so good luck.
