Thank you!! Hmm. It deploys, but never installs. Does that make sense? I get the "we tried" message on the app. It is strange it is deploying now though? I tried at 3 am and 7am, both failed. Truck is scheduled for 1:30.
I was also told it was deploying last night.
A lot of people have had issues with that particular update. Even at 100% battery, many people have had it fail multiple times. There isn't much you can do other than cross your fingers and try it again.

Okay, I have tried at least 5 times. Will continue to try today, cannot hurt right? Should I drive truck, then re-charged to 100 and put on power supply and try again? Disconnect and re-connect battery? When you checked, did it show battery was sufficient?
Is the app suppose to tell me it is updating? Or the screen in the truck? I never get that far to see. App just says re-schedule update. Truck screen is blank.

You can try different things to see if anything gets it to stick. As far as I can recall, the people struggling with 2.8.1 didn't do anything special to get it to go through; it just went through whenever it felt like it. The app will not tell you when it is updating; only when it succeeds or fails. While the truck is updating, you can look at the touchscreen through the window and there should be a progress bar that you can look at. As per the screenshot below of your OTA dashboard, it states insufficient battery as the culprit for the install failure many times.

Okay, I will see if I have any luck with the 1:30 update. If not, may just leave on charger again rest of day and night and keep trying manual updates and set another update for 2am. I feel like if it is insufficient battery while on a charger, it for sure won't work when I remove it. Otherwise it will come off charger in the AM cause I need to drive it this weekend.
I see the countdown on the touchscreen and then preparing update and then it goes black for 20 minutes then the dreaded failed app update. I guess it deploys the update (says preparing on the touch screen) then fails.
Appreciate all the help man! Hopefully it takes, otherwise I will just wait until it goes in for service next.

How are you connecting your charger? If you connect it directly to the battery terminals the SOC won't get updated until it sits for an extended time (something like 8 hours untouched) unless this has changed from the previous gen trucks

Not really.....people on here have had that update go through while off the battery charger. Try resetting your APIM. Turn the truck on, let it fully boot up. Press and hold the radio power button and forward seek button for 10 seconds until the screen goes black and reboots. Someone one here mentioned to do it twice to fully reset it. I don't know if it will help, but it can't hurt to try.

The positive is on the battery terminal. I was told the negative had to be off the battery terminal for the SOC to update, and it is not on the terminal. It is connected to the grounding bolt that runs to the negative battery terminal. Was told this is okay?

Thank you! I will do that. Should I disconnect the charger before doing so? I am open to any and all suggestions!
Other question; My APIM should be fine being I have gotten all other OTA updates so far.. right?

How long have you been waiting for an APIM? I'm quite certain I am going to need a new one too. I just want an idea on how long I will have to wait. Thanks.
