Plus I have to find someone else willing to do the same to pick me up and bring me home or take me there to get me truck and of course I pay for their gas as well. This is trip number 3 so far and the dealer knows about this but they say they can't provide a loaner since they sold them all. Even though this is warranty work its costing me a lot of money. I don't think I will be doing business with this dealer again.
If they have no loaners, Ford will pay for a rental. Same thing happened to me. That's why I was in a Toyota and not another Ford.

My dealer told me the same: That all updates were done and I knew they weren't. I didn't want to go in the the back-and-forth, so I just picked it up and said the hell with it. The next time it has to go in for anything, I'll take it somewhere else. These silly updates are not worth the aggravation. For me, anyway.

Really, I have been there 3 times now and requested a loaner every time and they told me no every time. So can I just tell them that I know they are required to rent one for me if I end up having to take it back again and they don't give me a loaner?

Well, I don't know if they're "required" to, but I do know that Ford will pay for it.

Edit: IF it is warranty associated work, btw.

Not for all warranty work, usually only for recalls. You will usually see a blurb in the recall paperwork like this:

But if you bring the truck in for a service item not covered by a Recall or sometimes a TSB, like say your passenger window isn't rolling up fully, that is warranty covered but the dealership does NOT have to provide a loaner, or even the option of a loaner at your expense.

2.8.1 installed today, OTA. I deleted the scheduled download times since that worked last time to get one queued. About an hour later I saw that it was queued in the Widget. Went out to the truck and saw that the Update Now button was highlighted. Pushed it, connected my trickle charger and shut the doors. Screen said it'll be about 143 minutes. I checked the screen every 15 minutes thru the window to watch the progress. At 45 mins it showed about 62% done. Overall it was done after about an hour. After starting her up I can see that the 2 IR windows have faint red lights.

I might be in a unique position because I have full access to PTS and FRDS. I have not used FRDS on my PowerBoost yet for anything even though I sit in front of a pile of VCMs on my desk. There's something about scheduling a service appointment that just seems wrong.

Since my last OTA update in March 2022, my F150 has been reporting offline in the connected vehicle hub on the server side. I finally decided to troubleshoot it at home. After a Sync 4 master reset, GWM and APIM reset, within 24 hours it was back to reporting as online and I now have OTA 2.6.0 pending for install. I think there is a bug in the Gateway Module Ford hasn't figured out yet. It seems as though if you sneeze while driving the GWM can corrupt itself and take down the in-vehicle ethernet network which is used to deliver OTA updates to select ECUs. I have little faith in OTA updates from what I've seen so far on a range of models. Big Blue needs to deliver a more reliable way for owners to look after their own updates. At least with Sync 3, updates could be managed manually by the owner via a dedicated delivery method.

The current implementation of OTA updates is a giant leap in the wrong direction and I feel sorry for you guys that are stuck with this system. At the end of the day I'm just an owner too. The current method for receiving updates seems to be dependent on who can perform a better rain dance LOL.

If anyone needs help to determine if they have updates stuck in limbo send a PM and I may be able to provide some information or guidance on steps you can try from home.

Unfortunately, FRDS seems to be the only consistent method to install the latest updates and even with it over a hard wired network there are SSMs indicating updates can corrupt the GWM.

My advice if your truck works is to leave it alone. Updates do not guarantee any improvements.

2.7.1 installed.... I guess this is progress.

Now I'm not sure if the last one was 1.6 or 2.6....

Keep getting this error. All conditions are met and it gets as far as preparing update and I can hear the clicking under the hood and then a few minutes later the screen goes blank and no progress bar. I did hook my battery up to a charger as this is the 2.8.1 update that states it takes 145min.

I’m new to the forum but have been following this thread since I got my truck in October. It is an early 2021 build. My dealer could not get BlueCruise installed in May but I received a few OTA updates within a week of getting it back. The interior cameras now know where I am looking in “hands on” mode and I can use the bed camera while moving, but still no “hands free”. Can someone see what updates are available for 1FTFW1ED9MFB39928

I had this exact issue for about a week. Your battery level is likely not meeting the proper threshold. To remedy I put a trickle charger on the truck one day after work and had the scheduled window for updates set for 11:30 PM. The next morning, I had an update saying the update took successfully. Depending on how depleted your battery is, you may need extra time on a charger. Don't give up.
