Fellow escape drivers... have y'all seen this video? Haven't seen Fordtechmakuloco post it before but he reposted it again. I was not aware and will be checking my wife's brake lines when she gets home from work

ok well I got impatient with Eastwood and their paint not coming back in stock so I went ahead and bout some Rustoleum paint (it didnt flake off on my test backing plate). So now my question is; I sprayed everything with the rust reformer, and I bought engine enamel. Do I spray a self etching primer in between? or do I just go with the rust reformer and engine enamel? I know it says Rust reformer doesnt need a primer but you can. So which is? Rust reformer --> primer --> engine enamel OR rust reformer --> engine enamel? Also should I clear coat when finished?

Other question is what color should the outer hub be painted? It will show thru the rim. Do I keep it black? or paint to closely match the rims? pic attached just shows the hub part that sticks out; it will be the hurricane rims (aluminum color). Thanks in advance for the input.

I've always painted right over the rust Reformer with no problems. In any case, you don't need the "self-etching" properties.

Hub color: I'd say silver to match the aluminum wheels.

that's what I was thinking, just didn't know if a primer would help with durability or the enamel "sticking" to the axle.

That was my knee jerk decision, but didn't know if black would still look good since the tires would be black and "sandwhich" the rims

To clarify: I meant that if you decide to use (additional) primer, it wouldn't need to be be self-etching.

Easy enough to try right now with one of the wheels, or are there not tires on the hurricanes yet?
..

Yeah I understood. The store only had self etching in stock so that's what I had bought.

Yeah the one set has tires so I can toss one on for the pic. I also remembered this set came with chrome caps so I could always run those too. But with not having the front set I don't know if it'll look good that way either.

Got the diff cover sealed on. Picked up the axle flange seals. Waiting for some decent weather to get everything final painted. Ordering brake parts tonight. If y'all haven't heard of evaporust you should! Stuff works amazing. Just let soak for a minimum of 12hrs. These bolts sat for 16hrs and then wiped down with a rag. People have used it a ton over on the dentside forum. I'm overjoyed tho because I hate cleaning up and wire wheeling hardware.

I used it to clean up an intake for my boat before I painted it. It really did an awesome job.
