Damn, today was messed up. Started out by backing Red into the headlight of a Dodge Avemger. Broke the crap out of it and scarred the top of the bumper under the light. Called the insurance and they were nice. No deductable to me, and no increase in rates. I've been with them for 11 years, and they have treated me right both times prior. The windshield on Sonya and the wiring repairs when she was broke into. First time cost me 100 deductable. This time, nine. I like that at least. There was no damage to Red's bumper. It just slid up her bumper and cracked out the glass for the headlight. No body damage to the metal, just the bumper scratch. First time in over 26 years I did somethting so stupid. At least she admitted she was in my blind spot so I probably couldn't see her. I didn't. Lol

Then this pm, my desktop wouldn't print to the printer. Then my laptop wouldn't either. Called HP on the printer, they checked it and it was perfect. Turns out that the tower has some serious internal problems. The laptop cleaned up. I had a program that required a Recovery to reset it. Damn updates, lol. All in all, 4 hours of messing with these tonight has taken it's toll on my sanity. Which wasn[t strong before tonight, lol.

Hey, sorry I messed the Bear. Yogi, I hope you are doijng well, It sounded like it in your post. Glad to see you back buddy.

Perhaps I'll put a how-to thread together.
Brew, you may have caught this but this past Saturday on "Truck U" they replaced one of our tanks on the truck they were working on for someone. The tank they used was redesigned from the OEM tank and all the radiused edges, angles and the "steps" on the tanks were maximized for capacity. I don't remember the amount gained or which tank they swapped but the extra capacity was substantial. The tanks are certified so they apparently made any of the necessary changes for shear forces. I know, at best a day late and a dollar short but thought you might appreciate the info.

This isn't really relevant but it is a reality. It was in the local paper about a month ago that the county only has one remaining "service station." It's in a small, POP. 300 to 400, farming community in the middle of nowhere. Bear in mind, middle of nowhere here is not what it is in Utah. You have 29 counties. We have 83. You actually have to go somewhere to show up in the middle of nowhere.

I had to go to the hospital this morning for some tests. Nothing unusual about that except because of the virus the majority of the lab hours are in the early AM now. While driving there I heard this interesting tidbit of information.

For every $5,000, in folding money as grandpa put it, a person handles there is a 40% chance they are receiving and passing along a counterfeit bill. The odds are almost 100% that everyone will come in contact with a counterfeit bill in there lifetime. Maybe it's just me but I assumed they were a lot rarer than this. Also, just having the bill and passing it along, regardless of how innocent the circumstances, the people involved are breaking the law unless you're a bank. They get some exemptions. I hate banks but I want to be a bank.

Champion Shii maybe.
Just spreading his jeans maybe? If that's the goal, hopefully they're good jeans; Levis, Wrangler or Lee for example. No need for anymore of that dollar store stuff.

White, or anyone else.

I'm having some problems with my laptop keyboard. I've done some internet searches which wasn't any help. For stuck keys, sticking keys, broken keys, popping off keys, I spilled my soda on keys, the dog ate my keys keys, etc. there's a lot but none of this is the problem. My keyboard is experiencing subsidence. The keys are sinking. There are a couple of keys that I have to be press firmly but they all work. Although they work some, and that means more and more of them are losing their feel. When pressed I can't feel if they're moving or not. Some I can feel go down but they feel like they staying down when they're not. The keyboard keys all still stick up from the surface but not all keys being the same height can be seen. The on\off button was level with the surface but now is about the thickness of a dime below the surface.

Can this be fixed? Is it worth fixing? My former laptop had a hinge go bad. I thought no big deal to fix and I was wrong. I never had problems with the computer working but the screen side and keyboard side never lined back up right again and the hinges wouldn't work in unison. The screen would lock up somewhere in the up position and for a long time sometimes, NTSB didn't think much of that. Eventually it got to where trying to fix the hinges just bent plastic. I've gotten older and hopefully wiser and I'm not going to jump right in to it this time.

Thanks.

I've replaced several keyboards on laptops. Not a real hard job, and you can usually find online videos on disassembly. What brand and model is it?

I recently had a guy bring one to me because his touch pad and keyboard were elevated by about 1/4 inch.... yeah, turns out some Dell laptops have batteries that swell, and his is one of them.

EDIT: Check this out.....

I'll be damned. it's a Dell Inspiron 15. I never put that together but I ended up just taking the battery out of the computer. It got to the point with working on the screen\lid and taking the battery out and putting it back in it would get stuck and was a bear to get in or out. I assumed it was just another problem with the hinges. The entire thing is such a mess now it doesn't matter. It's never going to be in a position where the battery will be essential and when the kids want a computer to play with, I never worry about what they might do to it. For some reason I couldn't get any sound from the youtube link. My eyes still worked though.

The keyboard problem is with an HP Omen, model W2N30UA. Suppose to have a lot of graphics and gaming power which is why I chose it. I had no use for the gaming bit but I was told what's needed for CAD and modeling is the same as what's needed for animated gaming. It's also why it came with all that video stuff I mentioned. Autodesk-Autocad's cad and modeling programs for animated motion were much easier to use and looked just as good. I've since let the subscription versions lapse but still have the old programs that came with disks or CD's and they even came with these things called books. A couple of reams of paper and untold ink cartridges weren't needed.

And one more time, thanks for the help White.

Is this the right laptop, Rivers? And yeah... the sound was WAAAAY quiet on that last video I posted. I had to crank it up to hear it...... which made it awkward in the office when I turned my Amazon Music back on.

all the youtube videos ive seen said there wasnt enough room for that tool to actually use it to remove the pitman arm. If youre saying youve used the tool on our trucks ill take your word for it and go pick one up. I just have only seen people use the grinder trick to get it out.

Also my question for the pickle fork was geared towards getting all the ball joints out. Think I literally just broke my knuckle trying to hit the stud out with a mini sledge. Part I was using to hit the stud moved, my hand replaced its place and the hammer went wack right against the palm and slammed the knuckle into metal. Slice it open and after icing it I cant hardly move the finger without pain in the knuckle area. Wife jokingly suggested getting a new truck before I bought all the parts yesterday... maybe Ill just set this one on fire and roll it down a hill.

EDIT* picking up a pickle fork from Napa once the wife gets home. Never start a project when youre home alone if you dont have all the tools lol. Thought I could do without it but I cant for the life of me get the stud side of the pitman arm to release.

White, I think the one in the video is newer. The looks of the cases are different but danged if the hinges aren't really different. lol I am starting to have minor issues with these hinges also, The work fine by the way the lid closes at the front of the computer but at the back, the hinges have developed a slight bulge at the hinge pin. A light squeeze of the hinges at the pins and the lid will close all the way. Without the squeeze there's a gap of maybe 32th of an inch. My light up logo, which I think is suppose to be a spider, isn't anywhere as big as what's on the newer computers. I feel really cheated now.

http://smartntechs.com/laptops/hp-om...laptop-series/

I picked it up directly from HP in late 14 or early 15.

EDIT: The work done on my left ear has taken and lasted so far but my right ear only gave me 5 or 6 weeks before it went back to what it was. Volume is important sometimes when it's like what was on that video. Unfortunately, sometimes I don't know if what I'm not hearing has to do with what I'm trying to listen to or if it has to do with me?
