Dumb question.... probably.... but is it safe to work on aluminum? I have a lot of rust on the TC cover for the 351, and it is cast aluminum.

It says it will only remove iron oxide and will not damage aluminum at all.

Yep! I'll take a pic of the back. It says it's safe for it.

Any thoughts on brake shoes for the Highboy? I can get Wagner or Monroe... however the Wagner thermoquiets are DOUBLE the cost... worth it for rear drum brakes?

I haven't used anything but T/C's for years on my DD vehicles. Yes, they may be double the cost, but consider how long you'll have them on the truck, and then think about it again. Worth it, now?

On the old rigs I like Wagners or Raybestos for shoes. Hardware either Wag or Rayb or Carlson. They have all the old parts. Shoes are either 33, 316 riveted or 357 bonded. depends on width of drum. I believe yours was the 316's, 2.5 and riveted.

Yeah I know lol was more wondering if Wagner was really that much better to warrant double the cost of everyone else. I run them on my 03 but figured with this truck maybe it wasn't necessary. Just needing someone else to help me feel better about spending so much money lol

Thanks, rockauto has raybestos and ac Delco for hardware but I found a set of motorcraft so I think I'm gunna go with MC this time (their last set) and yep, 316s riveted.
The axle is coming together... slowly... but surely

That thread was good at the start but the minute it changed, I said to hell with it. The fuel trims are way off. It's time to keep quiet again.
