Pretty easy job. You'll need to rent/borrow a fan clutch removal tool. I've had mine in and out three times chasing a leak around the o-ring seal. Before replacing the pump check to see if the fluid is coming from the weep hole or around the housing. You might have the same problem I did: rough spots in the block where the o-ring is supposed to seat. Mine, though sealed fine at install and (very) gradually got worse.

Thanks, Ill go out and check again. I watched a 1A auto video and that guy used a strap wrench to hold the pulley and a large adjustable wrench to loosen the fan clutch.... Don't see anything wrong with that do you? I've got a strap wrench I can use. I dont see how that would harm anything.\
Edit* I guess I should amend my earlier statement. By "not long ago" I guess its been over a year and a half.... time flies huh? lol

So weep hole is dry (man its hard to see stuffed down there) Hoses are still dry. Cant see an actual leak but the bottom "valley"(?) of the water pump is wet and I assume thats where its coming from... somewhere towards the bottom of the pump. I don't thing I have enough coolant to continue looking for the leak. Do I go buy more coolant, knowing its going to end up on the ground to trouble shoot or does anyone have any advice?

Edit* Well I need my truck by tuesday and the wife will be gone all day tomorrow. Going to run to autozone and pick up a duralast pump now so I can work on it tomorrow. comes with a limited lifetime warranty... so I guess I will have to roll the dice on it.

So it's leaking down the front of the engine or is spilling over the top of the starter (area) ?

If it's the pump, it's usually down the front.

If it's a valley leak (block cavity), depending on the angle your parked , the valley fills after shut down, and leaches out the back passenger side of the engine, above the starter. That's where the puddle should be on the ground....under the starter.

Hopefully it's not leaking from the heater core hard line (valley leak), directly behind the pump...you'll have to pull the intake. It's a common place for leakage.

The intake itself is in good shape ?

I wouldn't say a water pump leak isn't that common with these trucks, if so, I haven't heard of that one. Directly behind yes..them danged pump nipple o-rings can ruin your day, and the next lol.

Maybe you'll get lucky and it's just a hose. Doesn't sound like it though. A pump wouldn't be a job bad either imo.

Btw, - the valley being wet looking doesn't necessarily mean it's leaking in there. If it's leaking in the valley, it will puddle in there to a point, then leach out. You would see a coolant lake in there vs wet or damp. The valley can hold quite a bit of coolant lol.

I'm not sure where you're seeing it puddling (?). I don't know anything about the Duralast pumps. I've been told Murray (O'Rilley's) is decent, and that's what's been in my truck for 2+ years.

Don't have an o Reilly's close enough with one in stock. The valley is dry the weep hole is dry. It's coming down behind the crank pulley. Can get pictures in the morning but the oil pan is wet and the sway bar is wet. Puddle was directly under the water pump. Here's one area where I could see coolant running down (looks to be the bottom right water pump bolt. Edit* The youtube picture shows what the bolt actually goes to. Timing cover I guess. But yeah its leaking down around the bottom of the pump.

Heres another pic from 1A Auto. This his how my pan looks (except not rusty coolant colored, rather just coolant colored. Its "wetter" and the sway bar just below is just as wet with coolant.

The water pump is just an O-ring gasket. Yeah im pretty sure it was sometime in 2017. Its extra frustrating knowing the original pump lasted 150,000ish miles and 13-14 years and this new one is 1-2years old and 28,000 ish miles.

Work is hounding me for help this tuesday so i definitely need my truck. I will keep yall updated tomorrow when I remove the pump. I sure hope its not that hard hose either. Been seeing a ton of threads on that thing cracking at the Y. Its not cheap and man I really dont want to deal with that.

Edit* Dang! Just looked over the water pump and the mating surface as a dent in it. Hoping since the o ring seals it wont be an issue. It was the only one autozone had in stock tho and I wont have a spare vehicle tomorrow so I'm gambling... for better or for worse.

Mine was leaking between the pump and block, and dripped exactly where you're saying. It was leaking because of this:

The first time, I replaced the pump, thinking it was bad. The second time (when these pics were taken), I tried to smooth the surface with some sandpaper and emery cloth, and installed a new o-ring. This last time, I again replaced the o-ring, and added some Ultra Gray RTV. THAT should do the trick!
