Man.... tried getting that bolt out of the TC cover, and it is STUCK. Think it's going to need some propane and propane accessories to get it outta there. I hit it a little with a 3 pound hammer, but I don't want to break the cover, so I didn't give it too much of an effort. It's weird it will spin in there, but not come out.

I need to clean some of this stuff up with surface rust. Been watching videos and think I'm going to give Krud Kutter for rust a shot at getting it cleaned up. Do you guys have any tips or suggestions for a soak for rust?

If it's spinning can you apply pressure from the back side while trying to get it out?

I found a good video comparing all the rust sprays let me see if I can find it... edit* here are two links I had watched and thought did a decent job. again nothing that is a perfect scientific experiment but better than nothing.

Right , I assumed they all had it. That's the hardest part of a clutch job, that damn spring. Need a 3' cheater bar getting that back in a 9.75. Not much experience yet.

Will be taking care of the rear end next on the 98. Perhaps you can give me a few pointers.

Any of you guys know if a later generation F150 9.75/ 355 rear end/axle complete are backward compatible with the 10th generation. Looking to get the 98 finished before the snow fly's. It's been sitting too long, not good. After a quick swap with a low mileage, preferably newer to swap out. Searching this one out, -not coming up with anything definitive. Thanks.

I haven't gotten into the rebuilding side yet but if I get there first I will let you know. As far as rear ends go in 04 they moved the shock mounts way outside and changed the lug count. In theory you could relocate the mounts and change the axles and have a locking rear end.

That's right, they went to 6 lug. Damn, forgot all about that. So there was 9.75 5 lug ? I thought just Heritage went to 04, which was an 8.8. Lightning maybe ?

Plus they are a bit wider.... about 1.5" IIRC. I did a measurement on my Buddy's 06 he's parting out because he said I could have them.

Then I remembered the 6 lug deal, lol.

EDIT: We've got this mess headed towards us.... Supposed to be quite the storm. Already a bunch of flash flood warnings because of all of the fires, and the bare land. Hope we come through unscathed. A lot of trampolines took flight yesterday, and the news already put out warnings to buckle everything down for the next 3 days. I hope the patch job I did on my shop roof holds up.....
