The fastest gen 10 N/A trucks are the 2WD Supercabs by almost a second. Not sure why that is. The 5four and 4six are neck and neck flat out, always have been. The 5four is all about torque and low end. Big torque ring gears,a longer stroke/displacement. Not a race truck. Yea, I don't know which V8 they were speaking of. I looked for but it said V8 that's it! Felt jipped.

I guess if you wanted to race with 5000 lbs in tow, you would notice the difference. I'm not sure a shootout like that was ever done for gen 10 half ton class..across manufacturers anyway. Well, I don't remember one anyway. However, the 5four in the 3/4 and some 1 tons made the cut, but didn't get power improved until the 2000 models. That right there should tell you something. Ford had the 7.3L back then for their pullers. They're still doing it even today w/crazy miles on them.

Thing, these 1/2 ton gen 10 V8 engines, although some may use a little oil, it doesn't slow them down and can stay very strong for a good long time with proper care.

So sounds like I'm off to a good start, I've got a 2wd supercab lol. So that's means #racetruck right?? Lol jk

Although my plan for my truck in the future is to have a coyote truck motor swapped into it and running with everything working the way it's supposed to as it would from factory. More power and better fuel economy, best of both worlds, especially seeing the motor would just be in stock form.

Back in 2002, my Buddy's mom had a 2WD short bed with a 5.4 in it. That little puppy was quick!

The regular cabs weren't as fast IF that's what you mean. The BOSS was even slower.

Why is that the case? Would think lighter truck would be quicker

That's what I thought as well. I thought maybe it was due to the fact that there wasn't many reg cab short bed gen 10's w/V8's. Not sure. The Boss trucks had those ground affect packages. Only thing I can come up with.

I went and picked up one of these little fog machines over at Guitar Center tonight....
Why? So I can make a tool to find vacuum leaks.

I wonder how that will work White. How expensive was the fog liquid ?

I changed out the instrument cluster today. I've got it down to less that 15 minutes, total time to R&R them now. I was still having intermittent no speedometer, then speedometer and so on. I picked up a cluster from a 97 Expedition (PATS system) and it worked great. Luckily the 97-98 Expy is a code A PATS, which is a single key (not double to reprogram). The A system doesn't use the cluster in the PATS, like newer Ford's. This makes any 97-98 Expy cluster usable in our F150's, even though the Expy as PATS. It was a wonderful day in the neighborhood.
