I think the 3/4 tilt did ya in. I used a come a long with my Highboy but the trailer was a full tilt. Didn't have any issue with it going down too soon.

Wheelbase of the truck is longer, so more weight was on the front before any got on the back. Makes sense now.

I did get the Chevy on there, but snapped a 2 X 6 in half in the process.... then took it to a church parking lot with a STEEP incline to get it back off. There was just too many "what if we can't find ________ 250 miles away?" questions for me to use it.

I've been looking at Powerstrokes today..... LOL. I told my Wife that I was afraid this would happen if I drove the Duramax for a couple days.

After renting the cclb last year all I could talk about were diesels for like a month. The wife wasn't thrilled LOL. I hope that when I upgrade to a crewcab I will simultaneously be upgrading to a diesel as well. Just depends on what life has in store for us when the 03 craps out

Good Morning guys. I see Whitey got the GEN 11 back, and in one piece. Good deal. I couldn't see the metal in the oil, but I believe it. How much of that metal might of been from the prior timing chains and guides and front cover? Hell, that truck fit fine, lol. You could of used 1 more foot, but that set of ramps, seems to be the difference. Very creative........

I finally went and worked on Blue yesterday. It was so damn hot out. Anything over 70 in Anchorage is hot, but it was almost 80 at my place. The guys who just came in from Japan, down the street, came out and were complaining on how hot it was. The one guy, in broken English, said he wanted to go back to Tokyo where it was cooler. He said, "he was melting". I was too, but just had to laugh at his comment.

I managed to get the old 4x4 decals off the back panels, and replace them with new 4x4 Off Road for my year. It had FX4's on it, but since those didn't come out until 02, I put on the originals. Again, that Turtle Wax adhesive removed made short work of the old ones. I'm sold on that stuff now. It also took off a 20 year old bumper sticker on the neighbors car that he'd try to remove for a long time. 10 minutes later it was ready for removal. He had it cleaned and polished in 5 minutes after the glue let go.

When we first got there, it was straight silver on the bottom of the dipstick, but when it started it was like.... get this mother trucker on the trailer NOW, if you know what I mean? It needs a new motor though. I took a video of it last night, and I am pretty sure it's a rod knock I'm hearing.

My one holdup is the cost of owning a diesel. Everyone I know that has them as a recreational type truck (rarely driven) always complains about the cost of maintenance. I have been looking some more today.... if I see a deal, I'll probably be pretty damn tempted. I drove the F150 for a bit today to get parts for the Escape.... and man do I love that truck. I think driving it a bit more might cure me of the diesel.... LOL ----- I hope.

Speaking of the Escape, I spent the morning doing pads/rotors, lower control arms, and I decided that with 204K on it, I had better change the fuel pump.

If I want a diesel though, my Wife won't care. As long as her car is good, she doesn't care what I get. ***see the five vehicles in my stable***

BTW, I did take a pic of the U-Haul trailer brake setup....

Ah, the Uhaul break away coupler/brale. That system works great. On the idea of buying a diesel......not for me. I literally can't stand the smell, so owning one and being around it wouldn't be a good thing. Diesel and gear grease are the 2 major petro items I don't like the smell of. Besides crude oil, that is. lol

Today I pulled the towing mirrors off Blue and put back on his originals. I'm not going to be doing any towing with him, so I'm going to go ahead and clean him up and make him look like when I bought him. Now it's time to wash him and pull off the shell. I'll put the tonneau back on it for the first time in 5 years. I haven't decided it Red or Blue gets the AR wheels yet. I think I'll look at them on Red and if I think maybe they are right, I'll go ahead and put them on blue. I saw a similar truck with similar wheels, and they set it off. Mind you it was GEN 11, but still the look and offset made it pop.

Yeah I've heard maintenance is a lot more too but I will be needing the towing power soon so I'll just have to get over it... kinda like gas prices and a lifted 4x4 with 35s LOL

I'm hopefully going to look at a camper shell on Thursday. The side windows "vent" but one is permanently shut... no biggie as I won't utilize that. The rear hatch needs new struts but for $12is no big deal. Has a luggage rack on top too. Hopefully it's in decent shape. He's only asking $60

LOL... yeah, I'll probably get there (get over it) too. Whatever I get next has GOT to be Crew Cab, not a Super Cab.

I have a really hard time parting with vehicles though, and there's no way I'm owning two trucks.

2100.....that is a hell of a deal. I hope it works out for you. You are right, the shocks are a simple fix. Make sure the ball socket on the glass frame is solid. Better to fix first, rather than after and trying to hold the glass up, etc. lol Hope you get it.

I had thought about putting Red's signal mirrors on blue, but he only has the plug, not the pins and wiring. Oh well, the left side is a bit weird in the glass anyways. I was going to paint the caps, rather than breaking them trying to swap them. But since, I can't use them without wiring the truck, I'll pass. Besides it's hot again today. Not complaining, but I am sweating on everything. LOL
