Brew....if you check the towing on the Dodge vs the EcoBoost, you will find the Ford pulls over a 1000# more than that Dodge could even consider. Go with the EB for the tow and save your E40D. lol Good luck. Nice pull unit.

I say go for it, especially if you are using an equalizer hitch.

No load leveling equipment, actually I think it's called an anti sway/load distribution set up. Bolts down to the trailers a-frame. You also need the correct set up for the receiver. It attaches on each side of the ball, a stabilizer of sorts. Yea I haven't sprung for one yet, not sure which I want to go with. I could borrow one though, but I've towed without one and I'm wanting the trailer here before deciding. But yea, this thing is big and boxy, plus it's higher than the norm. If it's windy, I could have some trouble without that set up. Could have a lot of trouble with a good cross wind. Yea might borrow the set up. It would be hard on the springs if it gets a little wobbly. Glad I put those new shackles on, boy would that of been a mess, probably wouldn't of made it off the lot before my springs went through the bed lol.

Yea AK, I think that would be the safe thing to do, go with the EB. As much as I'd like to do it with my truck....I'd be maxing the old girl out, perhaps more than I know. Like I said, I haven't figured in hitch weight. Have to do that as it reduces pulling capacity. I already know I'd be pushing it...I better play it safe. If I want that trailer looking the same once I get it back here lol.

I guess there's a 1/2T Dodge set up to pull heavy, just one but I don't think he has that one. From what I've seen looking real quick, most of the Doges can pull 8000 lbs. I'm talking the new ones. The 8 speeds can't pull squat, the 6 speeds are rated higher. But most of them have tiny rear gears in their 1/2T line. The Ford 1/2T EB obliterates them lol.

Yes they do. I'm thinking 105 with 35s and 3.55s but I can honestly say it wasn't me on that ticket.

Hitch weight is about 700 lbs. I guess that figures in as well. It's a 200 mile pull from Ohio. I can get a loaner..What do you think, should a pull it?
You could do it if you aren't expecting it to pull like a diesel. If it were me I wouldn't even think twice. These trucks tow really well compared to any other brand from the era. When I moved I rented this 24' enclosed car hauler and loaded a 3 bedroom house inside of it. That pushed the limits for sure and I kept it around 55-65 mph. I'm guessing it weighed about 10k loaded.

That cluster is 350, it uses the factory circuit board to retain mileage etc. They also make a silver one but I think the white would go good with my truck.

(Ha,... its not worth it)- whatever vehicle you use be careful- there is a lot of road construction on the north side of Columbus, ( i cant tell you how far north it carries though)
